General Announcement

Hello Division 2 Students and Families,

I know this wasn’t how any of us planned to spend our break, it took me a while to be okay with cancelling my plans and adjusting to the new normal.  I hope you still had a restful and enjoyable two weeks.  Spring Break has officially come to an end, and as you probably know by now, returning to school is going to look a little bit different this year due to COVID-19 physical distancing restraints.

We are working from home for the foreseeable future!

Yes!  We are still doing school, it’s just going to look very different.  Every day can be PJ day! I know someone is happy about that ;). What this means is we will transition our school time to an online learning system.  What is that going to look like? We don’t have all the details yet.  Please remember that this is new for everyone and that myself, Ms. Baird, Ms. Carson, and the rest of the school district don’t have all the answers just yet.  What I do know is that our learning is going to continue, it will just have to look a little bit different for awhile.  I am here to support you and your learning and when I am given new information I will pass it on to you as soon as I’m able.

Here’s what I need from you:

Please take this week to create a new routine for yourself.  I know my routine looks very different today than it did 3 weeks ago.  That’s fine, just make sure you have a routine that works for you! Maybe you walk your dog “before school” instead of “after school”.  Maybe you sleep a little later, maybe you don’t.  This is one of the silver linings to this whole situation.  Not everyone functions at their best at the same times, this means you can find a schedule that works best for you and maximize your potential during this time! I will not be sending out activities or assignments this week.  The school district has created a Continuing Learning Website that should be going live soon, please keep an eye on http://burnabyschools.ca/ for the website and explore the activities for your grade level.

Thank you for making it all the way to the end of this message!  If you’re still reading this, please also remember to breathe, and smile.  This is a stressful and confusing situation, but trust me when I say that everything is going to be okay.  We will get through this together!  If you have any questions or worries along the way, don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email.  I will be calling all of you on Thursday and Friday so please keep an eye out for a “Blocked Caller” call from me.  I am looking forward to this new adventure with all of you!

Ms. Wilson
