Today, we worked on arrays in Math class. I did a whole class lesson on the board where I used counters to make arrays e.g. (pretend the O’s are counters)<\/p>\n

would represent 4 x 2 = 8<\/p>\n
Each array (sequence of counters in straight rows and columns) represents 4 Math equations\/facts. For this example, it would look like:<\/p>\n
4 x 2 = 8<\/p>\n
2 x 4 = 8<\/p>\n
8 \/ 4 = 2<\/p>\n
8 \/ 2 = 4<\/p>\n
We worked through some problems I posed on the projector and then had a competition where students had to model multiplication and division arrays with counters on their desk in groups and write the four facts that accompanied the arrays.<\/p>\n
Then, we went outside for DPA and then planned our medieval village set-up by putting the buildings together. We will continue to work on the construction of our medieval buildings and creating the scenery around it!<\/p>\n
After lunch, we had our party! We will miss the two students leaving so much \ud83d\ude41 It was a great time with great food, thank you so much to everyone who brought food or other items for the party!<\/p>\n
After recess, we had a writing lesson with Ms. B and she talked about the purposes of writing and had the students write down why we write.<\/p>\n
For homework this weekend, the students have a weekend journal: “If you could be a character in any book, which one would you be?
