Red tiles =
The top number (numerator) represents the amount of red tiles that you have. The bottom number represents the the total number of tiles.

Write the fraction for each of the different coloured tiles below. Post your answers in the "Comments" section:

Hello Division 8! Here are today’s activities:

*This is a friendly reminder that there is a ZOOM Meeting at 1:00 PM for those who have signed up

  • Story writing (Work on good copy)
  • Daily 5
  • Math
  • Music
Math 2

Today you will play a "Ball Picking Machine" game. In the first part, you will be practicing using the terms:

-Impossible
-Unlikely
-Even chance (chances are equal)
-Likely
-Certain

In the second part, you will guess which colour ball will be chosen, then pull the lever to see if you were correct or not (Do this for 12 rounds). Notice if your guesses were similar or not to the machine's results.

Hello everyone! Here are today’s activities:

This is a friendly reminder that there are ZOOM Meetings scheduled at 10 AM and 1 PM today for those who have signed up 🙂

  • Daily 5
  • Story Writing
  • Math
  • Science (Finish Life Cycle project)
Math 2

Imagine that these coloured tiles are placed in a bag. Answer the following questions and explain why in the "Comments" section.

1) Which colour is most likely to be pulled?
2) Which colour is least likely to be pulled?
3) Which colours have the same /equal probability of being pulled?

Today you will be playing Probability Carnival! Increase your chances of winning tickets by choosing what is most likely to win. Once you've earned tickets, you can enter to play games :)

*You will need Adobe Flash Player to play

https://mrnussbaum.com/probability-fair-online-game

Math 3

So far we have been writing multiplication sentences for arrays. Today we will be also writing addition sentences for arrays.

*Multiplication is the same as repeated addition!

Example:

Multiplication Sentence:
2 x 4 = 8 or 4 x 2 = 8

Addition Sentence:
2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8 (4 groups of 2) or

4 + 4 = 8 (2 groups of 4)

-Open the file below and complete the page. For each picture, write two addition sentences and two multiplication sentences.

Good Morning! Here are today’s activities:

  • Daily 5
  • Story Writing
  • Math
  • Science (Work on Life Cycle Project)
Math 2

Try these three activities:

1) Flip a coin 10 times and record using tally marks how many times you land on heads, and how many times you land on tails. Which side did you land on more times?

2) Play 10 rounds of rock, paper, scissors with someone, and track who won each round. What do you notice?

3) Roll a die (dice) 10 times and record which numbers you land on. Which number did you land on the most? Which one did you land on the least?
*If you do not have a die, you can use this online one:
https://www.random.org/dice/
Math 3

Word Problem: Ms. Tze has 20 students in her class. She wants to rearrange their desks. What are the different ways she can line them up or group them? Post one answer to the "Comments" section.

Draw arrays to match the following multiplication sentences:

1) 9 x 2 = 18
2) 3 x 6 = 18
3) 2 x 7 = 14
4) 6 x 4 = 24
5) 1 x 10 = 10
