<3 Hello everyone! <3

I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. I went to go see Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver on Monday, it was gorgeous! I love that we live in such a BEAUTIFUL province with so many places, sites, and adventures to go on!

Here is this week’s schedule. I am not sure if IXL will continue past the 30 day free trial I had signed us up for. If things change, I will let you know. Important things to note for this week:

• New Social Studies Assignment/Lessons posted to Teams (Due May 25th)
• ZOOM Meeting has been MOVED to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday (all teachers have a very important meeting to attend that morning).
• Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing Projects due on Wednesday, May 20th — can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with!

GOOD MORNING class,

I hope you all had an amazing weekend and were able to treat the amazing women in your life extra special for Mother’s Day (be it you moms, grandmothers, aunts, cousins, etc etc etc) 🙂 I got a LOT of really positive feedback about the Community Rocks project, if you haven’t been out yet, I’m pretty sure there are still lots of rocks to be found and documented 😉

This week we have a couple things to note:

1. ZOOM class meeting (I am going to play games with you and we can relax a bit and catch up)
2. Monthly News feedback (I spent DAYS providing tips and feedback on the documents you submitted. Please read through all my comments directly on your documents so you can learn from your mistakes and hear about some things you did very well!)
3. New Project posted on our Teams page for our novel, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. (1 week deadline, choose ONE of the three options).

I am really missing everyone’s voices and laughter and non-stop chatter. I’m excited to see you all on Thursday in our meeting. Have fun with the assignments this week and please reach out to me if you have any questions.

You read that title correctly, this link is for a weekly schedule (rather than the daily ones I have been posting). I am open to feedback on whether you prefer the daily or the weekly schedules but I wanted to try something different this time.

Thank you to everyone for submitting and sharing your PPT slides in yesterday’s meeting. It is always so nice to see the faces of our friends and classmates. I think our meeting went a LOT better today, and I am hoping you are all learning to navigate Teams better as it is definitely a tool we are going to be using for a while. I am SO PROUD of you all for being so open to trying something new. Online learning isn’t anyone’s favorite thing, we all miss our friends and our old “normal”… but you continue to show up, and try, and learn through mistakes. You continue to smile and laugh and play even though our province is still in a “state of emergency”. You are so AMAZING, BRAVE, and STRONG. I am honored to be your teacher.

If you forgot how to turn in an assignment, remember I added a channel to our Team page called “Videos” and I put one in there titled “How to turn in an assignment” which gives you step by step instructions (and pictures) which should help. Goooood morning everyone! I hope you enjoyed your Pro-D Day yesterday and enjoyed a well-deserved break. I went on a walk to Byrne Creek Ravine Park on the weekend and found the CUTEST painted rocks! (See above picture). It felt like an Easter egg hunt! Have any of you checked it out? I’d HIGHLY recommend! (It wasn’t very busy there either!)

I am excited to share a few things:

1. IXL: As mentioned in our Class Meeting, I am moving us over to IXL for math (and literacy). It aligns better with BC content and is easier to use overall which many of you will enjoy. I sent everyone an email Monday with your username and password. Please use this to log in today and familiarize yourself with the site. I wrote some instructions in the Daily Schedule to find the recommended work I’ve assigned you.
2. Classroom Cookbook activity: I created a new assignment in Teams for you to check out and work towards this week. It involves a bit of literacy, math, and my favorite….SCIENCE! Check it out! (And shout out to Nicholas for inspiring this fun assignment)!

Hello everyone,

I am sorry we were having so many technical difficulties meeting in Teams. I don’t know why so many people were getting kicked out or why my mic kept getting muted. I will follow up about this. Here are the important details you may have missed from our meeting today:

1. Press the “Turn in” button once you are done an assignment so I can mark it and give you feedback.
2. Click on the “rubric” to see how I will mark each assignment (see pic at the top of the post)
3. Khan Academy work is “due” tomorrow. Some of you have been working really hard on this, some of you less. I will consider this when I write report cards. I recognize many of you are starting to have difficulties completing the fractions/decimals units on Khan so I am in the process of switching us to IXL next week — stay tuned!
4. MONDAY April 27th is a PRO-D (so NO SCHOOL WORK will be assigned that day — have fun!)

If you are behind in assignments, you can turn them in late for now… please use the rest of this week to catch up a bit–especially the gratitude PowerPoints as I want to share them in our group meeting next week and have each of you read your own slide as it comes up. 🙂

Even though we had some technical difficulties, I STILL really look forward to our meetings because I get to see and hear from you all…and my heart REALLY misses you all so much. <3

EDIT: I now know what I did wrong when setting up our class meeting. You will no longer be able to present, mute others, or kick others out of future meetings. Sorry for the frustration, I have put in a request to Microsoft to find out who the person was.

Here is how to log in:

1. Open up Teams
2. Click on “Calendar” on far left side
3. Find today’s meeting (should be a blue bar) and click on it
4. Find the “Join” button on the top right side and click on it no earlier than 10:30 a.m.
5. Try your best to be on time as it is the main thing assigned for today

Bring your questions about the assignments/etc to the meeting. I will be going over some important details about using Teams. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!!!

ps: no daily schedule today… just our meeting and work for an additional 45 minutes on any work that is assigned.
