Once upon a time there were some teachers who wanted to share their love of trees with the children.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrees are a gift,\u201d Ms. Thomas said.<\/p>\n

One teacher showed the children their new \u201csit spots\u201d. \u00a0\u201cDo you remember when Ryan came with his loud chainsaw and cut the log into these for us? \u201c<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0\u00a0 \"\"\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201dThe logs were from a tree that was leaning too much and needed to come down so that it was safe. \u00a0These are a gift from Ryan and that tree.\u201d<\/p>\n

The children looked closely and what did they see?<\/p>\n

\u201dSaw dust! Circles!\u201d \u00a0the children exclaimed and they learned to make rubbings of the tree\u2019s growth rings. \u00a0We counted the rings and learned that the tree had lived in the city for 31 years. \u00a0The same age as Ms. Orologio! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0\u00a0 \"\"\u00a0 \"\"<\/p>\n

Ms. Jenny brought helicopter seeds, another gift from a tree and we walked across the street to visit some maple trees.<\/p>\n

What gifts do you see?<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0\"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

How can we give back? \u00a0Help the seeds to fly? \u00a0How can we do that? \u00a0\u201cLike this,\u201d one child said and showed us how she throws it up into the air. \u00a0We ran to try it for ourselves! \u00a0But, wait! \u00a0Look! \u00a0What does he see?<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0 \"\"\u00a0 \"\"<\/p>\n

A worm, and it\u2019s hurt! \u00a0What can we do?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And the tree became a blanket (those help us feel better).<\/p>\n

Trees are a gift.<\/p>\n
