Letter of the Week Dd

letters-425003_640From December 17 to 21 the Kindergartens will be playing and learning with the letter Dd.

Please have your child cut out the letter provided (practice makes progress)and add pictures, drawings or items to the paper letter that has the sound “d”.  Bring it back to school on Monday please.

Bring something to school that begins with the sound “Dd” if possible. It must be small enough to fit in your hand on Monday.

During the winter break encourage your child to start to sound out dictated words with the sounds we have studied thus far. The first week back in January we will review all letter we studied. The following week the students will be introduced to a new letter. Can you guess?

Letter of the Week Oo

letter-1442860_640December 10 to December 14 we will be studying the letter ‘Oo’.  We are learning the short vowel sound “o” as in ‘octopus’.

Please have your child cut out the letter provided (practice makes progress)and add pictures, drawings or items to the paper letter that has the sound “o” as in mop or stop sign for example.  Bring it back to school on Monday please.

Bring something to school that begins with the sound “Oo” if possible or an object with the “o” sound in the middle of the word.  It must be small enough to fit in your hand on Monday.

Sense of Touch with Janice

       

Today your child had a chance to describe what their left foot felt in two mystery boxes. As you can see from the white board, these are half of the words they came up with.  Ask your child what words they used to describe their experience.  Thank you again to Janice for creating a special experience for all the students.  It was a great learning experiment.

Vegetable Trays with Jenn

Enjoy the photos!!!  Thank you Jenn for showing the students how fun vegetables can be.  Most students had their 5 servings of vegetables before their lunch today. Ask your child what vegetable were used on the tray.  Jenn served seven vegetables: Carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, yellow pepper, beets, kale and snow peas.

Bring something to school that begins with the sound “Rr”.  It must be small enough to fit in your hand. This is one of the more difficult letters to become proficient in sounding out.                                “Practice makes progress.”
