2020 – 2021

Hello everyone,

Please stay healthy and safe, self isolate, keep your distance, and wash your hands often while we all live through this crisis.

I have now set up all of my classes using Microsoft Office 365 Teams.  If you still didn’t find the class, here is instructions How to Access and Use Teams

There are also included instructions how to submit assignments via teams. Homework and updates are also posted on teams.

Mental Health Tip: move your body and get outside every day while keeping the social distance, at least a tiny bit even when you don’t feel like it.

Extra Curriculum Activity: I think one of the best things you could be doing now as a curriculum supplement is reading. Read a book. As a teenager, I loved reading, especially science fiction. Here is a link to

the best 100 novels for teens

21 books every girl should read before she’s 17 from Seventeen magazine

best selling teen books at Indigo Chapters

the 100 best young adult books of all time

Spring 2020

It is time to check in with your class on office365. If you have any issues with that please email south.info@burnabyschools.ca and request support.

Mental health tip: hang on to hope and positive news and breathe…

Extra Curriculum Activity
Cooking and baking is today’s extra curriculum activity. Cooking and baking allows you to continue your science skills of following instructions, safety around equipment, and measuring. Some cooking doesn’t require exact measurements, but some baking does. If you don’t get the exact ratio of flour to yeast to salt to water correct you won’t make bread, you’ll make an inedible mixture. Some foods, like a spaghetti sauce, don’t require exact proportions, but you still need to be safe around the equipment, such as never leaving a pot to boil dry, or letting the liquid boil over and scalding the cook. Under cooked food can cause health issues so follow the timing instructions on a recipe carefully.

And of course, cooking and baking is a skill that you will need for the rest of your life. In this new age of social isolation we need to be a bit more self sufficient, and to be more self sufficient, we need to be able to feed ourselves. Moreover, if the person in your house who does most of the cooking becomes sick, they won’t be able to continue. They would appreciate food being cooked for them as they recover from their illness.
