I am a Young Entrepreneur – (Part B) evaluating my product

You must also consider the success of your product.  Remember, the amount of money you made is not what is most important.  The main goal with this program is to make a profit and to have fun learning about business.

  1.  Begin by telling us your business name and slogan.
  2. Were you able to make a profit?  Did you sell out?
  3. How do you feel about the product you selected for your business?
  4. What are some tips that you could use to select a product to sell in the future?

  • My business name was Certified Copper. I was able to make a profit and made $72.30 and i only had one ring left out of twenty. I think I picked the right product because no one else was selling copper rings. Maybe I could try selling necklaces in the future so it could fit almost anyone.

  • My business name is “Caleb’s Squishy Balls” and my slogan is ” I am McLovin” and yes I know its missing the g but it’s supposed to be like that. Yes, I made a profit of $55, and I sold out. I feel like I did well with the items I was selling. Some tips are 1. Keep a positive attitude 2. Use a louder voice 3. Give more deals

  • My business name was just called “Cool Yarn” and my slogan was “Crochet for Kool-Aid”.

I was really able to make a profit, in total around 54 dollars in profit. I quickly sold out in just under an hour and had a couple hours of free time after to go around and buy stuff.

I feel amazed by the products that I selected for my business especially since they were so popular among children and adults. Once again, I sold them all.

Some tips I have for myself and others for in the future is to select popular trends for your products and diversify across ages and gender. Like flowers and then Minecraft in the same areas. Or universal items like for boys and girls, adults and children.

  • #1. My business name is The very interesting paper stars =]
#2. I was able to make a profit. I sold most of them and was only left with 3 stars. :3
#3. I feel like I did my worst because I sold paper stars. 🙁
    #4. I could sell Keychains 🙂

  • 1. Magnetic Magnets. My company slogan is magnets are cool, magnets are nice, magnets are magnets, so you should buy!
    2. No, I didn’t make any profit. I had a loss, and no I didn’t sell out all of my items but I did sell out a lot.
    3. I feel really happy that I sold magnets and since I had extras I can use some at home.
    4. A tip is that don’t rush your customers to buy your product. Give them some time to decide what they want.

  • Q1: My business is called Wonderful Worry Stones and I had multiple slogans that I put on my packaging which are: 1. Hold peace in your hand 2. Calm where you can reach it 3. Hold your worries, then let them go 4. Give your worries a home 5. A small stone for big feelings 6. Feeling overwhelmed? Peace is in your reach.
Q2: Yes, I was able to make a profit. I make over a hundred dollars for the things I sold, but my materials were very expensive so I only made about $30 (which is still a lot). No, I didn’t get to sell everything but I was very close to selling everything. I only had 3 worry stones left after the market.
Q3: I feel good about the product I chose because no one else thought of worry stones so I didn’t have any competition. I also like my product because I feel like it’s going to help a lot of people when they’re nervous or anxious and I find them very cute so people could also just use them as keychains.
Q4: A tip I could’ve used is that to look happy and always be at your table!! People might want to buy your product, but if you’re out shopping you could lose customers.

  • Q1. My business name is called “Ashley’s Awesome Accessories!” and my slogan was “So alpha. Wow.”

Q2. Yes I was able to make a profit of $139.75 but as well as Kelsey my materials were expensive so it cut off a lot of my original money (cash before subtracting, it was $214. That’s a pretty big difference, but still very delighted).
I did not get to sell all my products, but considering that i made 70 items and sold a majority of it I am still very proud.

Q3. I feel like my product really appealed to my customers AND people who were just browsing. I got compliments and praises towards me and my products, that’s how I could tell that many people liked my business!

Q4. A tip I could use in the future is to make more products that appeal to BOTH female and male gender because I noticed at the show about %98 of my customers were female. But I do know the reasoning that’s pretty obivious… It’s that my products were more feminine, I’ll say like Lotso or Hello Kitty, not saying that males can’t be appealed to those examples (males can be appealed to those examples), but from my observations it’s majority females. Another tip is that when picking a product to make don’t choose something that’s TOO expensive. From comparing my original amount of money to my profit there’s a pretty big difference, so if you want to avoid that use this tip!

  • Q1. My business name was “Vicky’s Pipe-cleaner Flowers” and my slogan was “Flowers That Never Wilt.”

Q2. I was able to make a profit of 17.50 dollars. I sold out all my products at around 2 PM, so I got some time to browse the other products.

Q3. I feel like my product was a good pick to sell; it was cute, and people loved it. The only downside was my lack of materials; I had a shortage of green, white, and light pink pipe-cleaners, and I had to borrow hot glue. I had a tough time making my product, but I had fun selling it.

Q4. I think a tip to select a product is to pick your target audience like children or teens. Then, pick something that your audience likes or is in style. Like the children (even teens) like cute keychains and magnets.

  • Q1. My business is called “Israa’s Kool Keychains” and my slogan is “Small Charms. Big Personality.”

Q2. Yes, I was able to make a profit of $24. I spent about $21 on all my materials, but I already had some of my materials at home. No, I did not sell everything I made, but I got close to selling them all. I had 3 keychains left over after the fair.

Q3. I feel good about the products I sold because it was quite fun to make. Although I regret it because I could have made something else (or something better). It was an excellent choice. But if I had another opportunity to do the Young Entrepreneurs program again, I would not sell keychains.

Q4. A tip I could have used is to always smile when customers approach my table to look like I am welcoming them. But another tip I could have also used is to not rush myself while making the products. It got to the point it was the last day till the Young Entrepreneurs fair, and I had a couple left to make. I was rushing because I thought I would not finish in time.

  • My business name was FRESHPOUCH and I didn’t really have a slogan because there was already quite too much stuff on my sign and poster. Yes I made a profit (around $70-80), and yes I did sell out. I feel great about my product as a lot of people loved it and bought it. I don’t need to select if I ever need to sell sell something I made I’m going straight back to FRESHPOUCH.

  • Q1. My business name is called “The Unwitherable Flowers”. My slogans were “Flowers that never wilt”, “Crafted to last forever”, and “Allergy free blooms”.

Q2. a) Yes, I was able to make a profit of about 60 dollars I’m pretty sure. My revenue was over a hundred but my materials were pretty expensive so I just made around $60 in profit.
    b) No, after the show, I still had a couple flowers that weren’t able to be sold in time.

Q3. I feel content about what I chose. Though the flowers take a while to make, I think it was worth it in the end because they were able to sell faster than I expected, as well as I made more than I expected. As I said in the first question, ” The Unwitherable Flowers”, this is very true so I think a pipe cleaner flower should last a while before eventually breaking from maybe another reason. If u maintain the flower in good shape, it might just last for even longer. 🙂

Q4. Some tips that I could use to select a product in the future is to probably ask more people for their preference of what I should make to sell in. Another tip is that I also feel like I should’ve looked more cheerful at my stand.

  • Q1. My business name is “Handmade Crochet Coaster” and my slogan was ” make your life fun.”

Q2. I was able to make $57.00, but by subtracting total cost of material, float in cash box, and the money for donation, I got a profit of $28.90. I wasn’t able to sell all of my product but still I’m proud of my result I got after the show.

Q3. I feel OK with my product I selected, but during the show little kids seem to not understand what is a coater so I should’ve selected a product which can be more interesting and exciting for them.

Q4. Next time, I think I should select a product which can be interesting and exciting for ever generation. As I said in Q3, little kids didn’t understand what is coaster is so if there is another YE show in future I will try to think of another idea of product which can be useful, unique, and attractive for everyone.

  • 1. My business name is Super Fluffy Slime and I did not have a slogan.
    2. I was able to make $10.05 I wasn’t able to sell all my product.
    3. I felt good because it was something I made .
    4. A tip I would say is to research.

  • My business name was “Just Hairclips”, and I did not have a slogan.
I don’t think I made profit, and I didn’t sell out. I started with 14 and ended with 3 leftover.
I think for sure I should of chose something better, as the item I sold was not the best, and not many people bought it.
Maybe some research, or make a poll, and make people vote, and the one with most votes is the one majority would buy, so just sell that.

  • My business name is Beauty Beads. I made a profit of $24 dollars after I sold out, although I didn’t feel anything after I first sold my products. My tips for succeeding in you business is always be confident in what you’re selling.

  • My business name was called “Doodle Art” and my slogan was “buy my random artwork”.

I was able to make a profit of $7.80. But I also had pre-orders so overall that’s around 28 dollars. Sadly all my of products were sold but some were.

I don’t feel terrible about it. But I wished that I had different ideas so it could sell better. Or at least add some color to it. But at least I had some pre-orders, that made me happy.

A tip I would use is to communicate if you can’t and have patience if you have none. because you need these things to start a business.

  • 1. My business name was “Bead Bar” my slogan was ‘There is a keychain for everyone!” but honestly I didn’t use it much.

    2. Yes, I did make a profit of around $17.00, I made a revenue of $52.00 but the cost of materials ($36.00) really put a dent in my revenue.

    3. I’m proud about what I made, though it did take a long time to make and a lot of materials. It made me very happy seeing people buy my product. The downside is my fingers cramped up multiple times during the making of my keychains. It was a very unique and amazing experience and I was glad I was there to do it.

    4. Two tips that I would use if I did this again, is to not use such high cost materials to make the product but still make sure it is high quality. Another tip is try to be friendly! Smile, wave at someone, do something to really catch their attention and them to come to YOUR stall.

  • so alpha Ashley!!!!!! and kelsey

  • I feel happy about my product because everyone loved it, but what makes me more happy is seeing other people happy.
    wow Ashley so alpha

  • My business name was “Squishy” because I sell squishies (duh). My slogan was “Just Buy My Squishies”.

I did make profit but not much😔, I made $13.60 🤑. I originally made ~ $20 and subtracted $4.12 for my materials + tax for the materials.

I think selling squishies for my productwas not a good choice because other people were making squishies too. Customers bought other people’s squishies and when they came to my stand, they were out of money.

Tip for products in the future is that I have to choose a product that no one is going to sell. If I sell a product that someone else is going to sell, I would have competitors and I won’t be able to sell very well. Also, you have to pick the ones YOU would probably buy.

  • 1. My business name is Silly Stickers and my slogan is “Slap it On!”
    2.a) Yes, I made a profit of $22. b) No, I had 3 stickers left over.
    3. I feel like I could do better because I was procrastinating and I was rushing while making the stickers. Other than that, I’m pretty pleased with what I chose because a lot of people came to buy my product.
    4. A tip that I would use is to not rush and procrastinate so much. 🙁
