\nBut some were treated unfairly
\nPeople were tortured and blamed in our society
\nWe couldn\u2019t speak for ourselves clearly<\/p>\n
\nAs a result, our numbers decreased
\nThey were bruised and used in the trades
\nWanting to be released<\/p>\n
\nBack then people were controlled
\nNow this has changed, they are finally seen
\nAnd history has been told<\/p>\n
\nAnd that\u2019s what makes us unique
\nWe should stop ignorance
\nWe have a voice, we’re not weak<\/p>\nModern Day Slavery<\/b><\/div>\n<\/div>\nSlavery began in 1619<\/div>\nIt’s not completely over<\/div>\nIt\u2019s just a different scene*<\/div>\nSince 1834<\/div>\nMany have fought for equality and peace<\/div>\nBut modern slavery exists today<\/div>\nThe rates continue to increase<\/div>\nSlavery is wrong<\/div>\nSpeak up<\/div>\nProtect the vulnerable<\/div>\nDefend our rights<\/div>\nWhich should be shared by all of humanity<\/div>\n<\/div>\nFacts:<\/b><\/div>\n* Fifty million people were living in modern slavery in 2021, according to the latest Global Estimates of Modern Slavery. Of these people, 28 million were in forced labour and 22 million were trapped in forced marriage. Women and children are the most vulnerable and in the past 5 years rates of modern day slavery around the world have risen (International Labour Organization, 2022).<\/div>\n<\/div>\nQuestions For Further Thought:<\/b><\/div>\nHow as a society can we put an end to slavery once and for all? How can we create a society where people\u2019s rights are protected and respected?<\/div>\n
