Term 2 Learning Goals<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scope and sequence of the following learning goals may change to meet the students\u2019 learning needs.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Decimals, fractions, and percents are used to represent and describe parts of whole numbers.<\/em><\/p>\n

The constant ratio between the circumference and diameter of circles can be used to describe, measure, and compare spatial relationships.<\/em><\/p>\n

Properties of objects and shapes can be described, measured, and compared using volume, area, angles, and circles.<\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Patterns and Algebraic Thinking:<\/strong><\/p>\n

-increasing and decreasing patterns using expressions, tables, and graphs<\/p>\n

-one-step and 2-step equations for all operations<\/p>\n

-discrete linear relations using expressions, tables, and graphs<\/p>\n

Fractions, Percents, and Ratios:<\/strong><\/p>\n

-relationships between decimals, fractions, ratios, and percents<\/p>\n

-improper fractions and mixed numbers<\/p>\n

-conversion, equivalency, and terminating versus repeating decimals<\/p>\n

-global poverty and inequality issues, including class structure and gender: treatment of minority populations in Canada and other cultures and societies<\/p>\n

-sample topics: residential schools, the Holocaust, internment of Japanese-Canadians, corruption, women’s rights, child labour<\/p>\n

-the urbanization and migration of people: land usage, access to water, pollution and waste management, population density<\/p>\n

-ask questions, corroborate inferences, and draw conclusions about the content and origins of a variety of sources<\/p>\n

-differentiate between short- and long-term causes and intended and unintended consequences of events, decisions, or developments<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
