Everytime you flush the toilet, you are using 5 to 7 gallons of water. Also, everytime you take a shower, you are using 2.5 gallons of water per minute. In Canada, each person uses up to 250 litres of water per day in average. That is the same amount of water as Sub Saharan Africans use for 4 days.

Now, the question is, is there any way we can waste less water? Greywater recycling can be the answer for this question. Greywater is any domestic wastewater produced. The main difference between greywater and sewage is that greywater can be reused, but sewage can’t, due to the organic loading. Greywater can be purified in two ways; by treatment and filtering. After purifing the greywater, it can be used in many various ways. For example, laundry, toilet flushing, and watering your plants can be done with greywater. It will reduce your water bill!

First and the biggest benefit of reusing greywater is the reduction of water demand which can possibly leads to reduction of sewage. If you install greywater recycling system, you would get safer water and more options to reuse it. Also,it would reduce how much water you use and the amount of water going into the sewage system. Eventually, you can make the Earth sustainable!

A water limiter it limits your family to use less then 2 gallons of water in the entire house. The amount of gallons of water varies on the amount of people in the home. 🙂

This picture saddens my heart to see this picture.
Not only, is this a problem but the journey to get the dirty water is dangerous, tiring and long.
Coming home with the little water they’ve collected and knowing that the dirty water can cause diarrhea, dehydration and the worst of all death. Drinking dirty water affects babies the most with their weak immune system, dirty water affects not only the family but the whole community.
Solutions that we can use to help this critical situation is to build more wells and hand out water filters -such as the Hydraid filter which would provide clean water up to a year- to people in villages that are in desperate need of clean water. Both these solutions are in action to this very day. But another thing we can to do save water and the environment are to, take shorter showers-no need to take a shower for an hour!-, not to leave the tap running-this just is a waste of water!-, using cold water to wash your clothes, going to public car washes -because they use less water- and to wash the dishes manually than using the dishwasher-it saves A LOT of water-. Some other way is that water your yard and outdoor plants early or late in the day to reduce the evaporation. Donate to clean water charities, it can help to fight against the lack of clean water around the world. Your donation could help prevent disease like diarrhoea, dehydration and death from the dirty water.

RECYCLING

Recycling is important. Recycling a can or anything is good for the environment and it saves a lot of natural resources. A can is made, sold and then someone drinks it. From here it can be recycled.
