A Message From Ms. Parmar

Dear Division 3,

It was so nice to see you all yesterday and finally introduce you to my daughter Ameera! She had a great time playing inside and outside the classroom with you :).

Thank you to all of you who have handed in your Language Arts Pax essays. If you are eager to turn your essay in to me in the next few days, please email me with a Word document at my email- Geetu.parmar@burnabyschools.ca You may need to ask your parents to help you with this at home. The remaining essays, I will pick up next Wednesday, December 4th. This will be my final visit before the baby arrives.

In terms of your Social Studies Term Project, Ms. Anderson will be booking some blocks in the library for you to research your topics on the laptops. Just like with Pax, you will begin with a web with your Canadian event in the centre of the web. Then add important information including the big questions- Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How.

When you feel like you have learned everything you need to know to write your own paragraphs about the event, you can begin composing your sentences. You need 4-6 sentences in each paragraph. To structure your essay together, begin with an introductory paragraph, then add your body of information in the middle, and finally a concluding paragraph to wrap up your writing.

Grade 5 students- 3-5 paragraphs minimum

Grade 6 students- 5-6 paragraphs minimum

Please refer to the Term Project sheet that was handed out in class for more information. These essays are due next Wednesday, Decemeber 4th.

Your oral presentations of this project will begin on Monday, December 2nd and possibly earlier for students who complete their assignments ahead of time.

Ms. Anderson will be assessing your presentations on:

content, voice projection, posture, maintaining eye contact, enunciation etc. Please ensure that you take time to practice!

Thank you so much for all of your hard work this term. I look forward to seeing you next week!

<3 Ms. Parmar
