STEAM stands for\u00a0<strong>S<\/strong>cience,\u00a0<strong>T<\/strong>echnology,\u00a0<strong>E<\/strong>ngineering,\u00a0<strong>A<\/strong>rts, and<strong> M<\/strong>ath!<\/p>\n<p>I was inspired by the students&#8217; amazing recycled material creations, as well as so many of them showing me their Lego during our class meetings. We have some talented builders in Div. 27, and I&#8217;m excited to see what fun things you can explore and create this week.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a picture of something that my daughter created out of recycled materials! No problem! Use any building materials that you have around your home! Even nature items will do \u2013 sticks and rocks make great bridges!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Move!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Having trouble making your Lego bridge stay up? Can\u2019t quite figure out how to tie your shoe? It\u2019s a book about a child who plays make believe games and builds an amazing fort. Can you build a fort in your home? You can use pillows, blankets, chairs, and other household items!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Watch and Explore!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s explore forces of motion \u2013 pushes and pulls!<\/p>\n<p>What kinds of pushes and pulls can you find in your home and around your neighbourhood?<\/p>\n<p>Go on a Forces of Motion hunt in your home and\/or neighbourhood! Find:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Something you can push<\/li>\n<li>Something you can pull<\/li>\n<li>Something you can spin<\/li>\n<li>Something you can swing<\/li>\n<li>Something you can roll<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Read and Count!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check out <em>Making 5 With Kittens<\/em> on Epic! and read together.<\/p>\n<p>Making 5 is an important part of getting to know numbers. How many collections of 5 can you find in your home?<\/p>\n<p>Example: 5 toy cars, 5 apples, 5 books, 5 rolls of toilet paper, 5 socks<\/p>\n<p>Draw what you find and label the items with the numerals 1 to 5!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Explore!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>How many letters are in your name? Write each letter of your first name on small pieces of paper (like a notepad or sticky notes). Find objects around your home that start with each letter. Place them in a row and take a picture! There is one for each school day this week.<\/p>\n<p>Have a <em>Zumba Dance Party<\/em> with Go Noodle! <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/FHo9QaJ1DyI\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/FHo9QaJ1DyI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Stretch with the alphabet! <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/VFa0b_IIRac\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/VFa0b_IIRac<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Shake your sillies out! <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/NwT5oX_mqS0\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/NwT5oX_mqS0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Build a robot with this fun dance along! <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/jLePoipMxDk\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/jLePoipMxDk<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Play!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Use your spring math counters you made last week to play <em>Hide It!<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ask an adult to play with you! Close your eyes and have them hide some of the counters under a cup.<\/li>\n<li>Open your eyes and count how many counters are <em>not<\/em> Use what you know to guess how many are hiding under the cup.<\/li>\n<li>For each correct guess you make, you get 1 point. Play until you reach 10 points!<\/li>\n<li>On a piece of paper, record your score using tally marks. Don\u2019t forget that 5 tally marks make a bundle! So your 10 point goal is 2 bundles!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Watch!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check out the <em>Syllables<\/em> video by <em>Scratch Garden<\/em> on Epic!<\/p>\n<p>How many syllables are in your name? Clap them out!
