(you are always welcome to share more)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Weather and Imagination!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This week, we reflect, predict, and create! You can do bits and pieces throughout the week at the pace that is best for your family.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-121\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/osirisj\/files\/2020\/05\/FBLogo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"27\" height=\"27\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/osirisj\/files\/2020\/05\/FBLogo.jpg 190w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/osirisj\/files\/2020\/05\/FBLogo-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 27px) 100vw, 27px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>How Many Me Feet?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trace your foot onto a piece of paper (you can use a blank one or something from your recycling bin) and cut it out. Use your foot tracer to measure things around your home! Ideas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How tall in your fridge?<\/li>\n<li>How long is your bed?<\/li>\n<li>How wide is your front door?<\/li>\n<li>How long is your couch?<\/li>\n<li>How tall is your kitchen table?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On a blank piece of paper, record your findings for your bed and couch. Draw a picture of the piece of furniture and show how many You Feet it is! Share pictures of you measuring and of your findings onto Fresh Grade.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Explore!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Take your measuring foot out on a nature walk! Take some pictures of all the things you can measure in nature. Here are some ideas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How many feet around is a tree trunk?<\/li>\n<li>How many leaves long is your foot?<\/li>\n<li>How many things can you find that are <em>exactly<\/em> the same length as your foot?<\/li>\n<li>Can you measure something with your foot tracer and then use your actual feet to measure the same thing (stepping heel-toe, one foot after the other)? Do you get the same answer both ways?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Graph It!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Look at your Weather Journal from last week and look at what you observed. On a blank piece of paper, make a simple graph to show the different kinds of weather. Ex: For each sunny day, fill in a square in the \u201csunny\u201d column. For each rainy day, fill in a square in the \u201crainy\u201d column. What kinds of supplies might you need to do your weather science? Using recycled materials and found objects around your home, create an imaginary weather station like the one in the video!<\/p>\n<p>Take your time \u2013 Throughout the week work on you project a bit each day. Your goal is to show off your weather station in your news report (see project below). Here are some ideas of things you could create to get you started:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thermometer<\/li>\n<li>Weather chart showing types of weather<\/li>\n<li>Wind detector<\/li>\n<li>Rain measurement device<\/li>\n<li>A weather desk to do your report from<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-121\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/osirisj\/files\/2020\/05\/FBLogo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"41\" height=\"41\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/osirisj\/files\/2020\/05\/FBLogo.jpg 190w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/osirisj\/files\/2020\/05\/FBLogo-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 41px) 100vw, 41px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Report It!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the end of the week, look back over your two weeks\u2019 worth of graphs. What do you see? Which type of weather happened the most often? Is there a difference between the weather at the start of the first week and the end of the second week?<\/p>\n<p>Imagine that you are a meteorologist like the kid in the above video! Be a weather scientist and give a weather report on the last two weeks\u2019 weather, and include a prediction about what you think next week will be like based on what you know. Should I get out my snow gear? Will I need sunscreen or an umbrella? What can I expect from the weather next week? Don\u2019t forget to show off your weather station!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Count!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Build another counting collection (a collection of 1-10 items). Let\u2019s reflect on our year in kindergarten together \u2013 what kind of learner are you? Here are some questions to guide your reflection:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are you a good communicator? Can you share your ideas with your friends? Can you work well and share when you play and explore? Are you a good listener?\u00a0<em>(Communication)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Are you a good thinker? Can you ask good questions and explore different things? Can you think creatively and come up with new ideas?\u00a0<em>(Thinking)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Are you a kind and confident friend? Can you notice your feelings and work to calm your body when needed? Do you like to help others?\u00a0<em>(Personal and Social)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Which storybook character are you most like?
