Today’s exercise is Gratitude Breathing!

  • Find a scarf or a towel and wrap it around your tummy/waist, just above your hips- wrap it like a belt then pull it so it feels snug and hold it.
  • breathe deeply! breathe in deep into your belly, trying to make the sarf/towel around your middle feel even more snug- practice this a few times. Isn’t it cool how deep your breathing feels?
  • Once you get used to this breath, the challenge is to breath in deeply like this 20 times in a row, and on each breath think of something you are grateful for.

EXTRA CHALLENGE: if you get distracted and your mind wanders away from the gratitude onto other things, start over at breath one! (yes, even if you were all the way up to 19!)

Thanks to my pals @the stretch space for the awesome idea!

These days, it might seem like our emotional and mental well being is being put to a test.  We miss family, friends, crowds, classes, connection, so much of our daily life before all this…

This can come with a lot of feelings *and that is OKAY*, but when our daily life is different, that means we might need to find different ways to deal with our feelings.

….SO what can help us mentally & emotionally deal? How can we continue to support ourselves and each other?

On this page we will share links and images to support our classroom community with strategies to help deal.

It is important to note that strategies that work for some, may not work for others. Only you know you well enough to figure that out. So, feel free to;

  • try links and see what you think
  • try with your family
  • teach someone what you did after
  • talk about whats going on and how your doing

THEN, share your feedback in your journals on Teams or share in the “chat” how it went 🙂

We are all still “here” for  one another.

Today’s exercise: Belly breathing

  1. Sit or lie flat in a comfortable position.
  2. Put one hand on your belly just below your ribs and the other hand on your chest.
  3. Take a deep breath in through your nose, and let your belly push your hand out. …
  4. Breathe out through pursed lips as if you were whistling. …
  5. Do this breathing 3 to 10 times.

What do you notice before/after? How might this technique help you/in what situations? Do you like it? Other thoughts?
