{"id":864,"date":"2020-10-29T16:01:07","date_gmt":"2020-10-29T23:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/morley-strongstart\/?p=864"},"modified":"2020-10-30T09:18:25","modified_gmt":"2020-10-30T16:18:25","slug":"bats-bats-and-more-bats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/morley-strongstart\/2020\/10\/29\/bats-bats-and-more-bats\/","title":{"rendered":"Bats, Bats and more Bats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Little brown Bats are the most common Bats in Canada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">There have been 19 species of Bats\u00a0 recorded in Canada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A baby Bat is called a pup, that drinks only their Mothers milk<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">for the first three weeks of life. At three weeks old they begin<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">to fly and eat insects and are weaned from it&#8217;s Mothers milk when they are<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">about twenty six days old. Flying around they catch 1000 insects in just one<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">hour, mosquitoes, midges, moths, beetles and other flying insect.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Bats can move up to 1000 km from their summer roosts to their<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">winter roosts where they hibernate in caves or abandoned mines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Hibernacula is what a winter roost is called and it is a place with<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">high humidity and it is stable with above freezing temperatures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The little brown Bat is a true hibernator as it slows down it&#8217;s<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">heart rate and breathing at this time.
