About Me

About Me

My name is Rachel Montague and I am a French Immersion Kindergarten teacher at Sperling Elementary. I live in Vancouver with my husband Taylor and our English bulldog named Carson. I love being outdoors in nature, and spending time with my family. I spend most holidays and some weekends on Pender Island at our family cabin. I hope that my love of learning and nature show through in my teaching. I have found myself inspired by student thinking and believe in a learning environment that makes connections between home, community, school and self. I believe that each child comes to school with previous knowledge and experience, and that these contribute to the community that we form each year. My journey in education began with an interest in how the place we live in can connect and impact our learning and how the voice of the child can guide my teaching. I am inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach and Inquiry Based Learning.

My hope is to encourage the children to explore their wonders and question the world around them. I look forward to many discoveries and projects this year!
