Inquiry Journal

April 26 – May 22, 2016. Entry #1:

Through April 26 to May 22, I didn’t do much on my inquiry. In fact, I did nothing. That being said, I did start one with a friend of mine, but it ended as soon as it started. Things didn’t work out, so we went our separate ways, and I ended up doing nothing. The reason being because I couldn’t find any good project ideas, and everything that came up into my mind I either didn’t like, or I already did something similar. My last inquiry project was about the ocean, and before that I also did one about the ocean, so doing a third one was a boring idea, and any other idea that I thought of really didn’t strike my fancy, so I went 2 months without any work on my inquiry. Pretty bad choice but what’s done is done, and I can’t change the past. In the end I decided to get back together with my friend because he also had the same problem as me, and it was fortunate that we worked out a solution. We decided to work on animating, and we started with only one month before the deadline.

May 22 – May 28, 2016. Entry #2:

We have just started our inquiry about animation, and so far I say we’re doing pretty well. We are explaining about the 3 main forms of animations, which are: Flipbook, 2D, and 3D. They are the main forms of animation that you’ll see out there. Flipbook is basically you flipping through a book quickly, and inside the book are drawings, and every page you flip through, the drawing changes a little, and when you flip through it quickly, you see the object moving, and it looks like an animation. Next is 2D. 2D is pretty simple. It’s one of the more common forms of animation, just because it isn’t really hard to make, and is also entertaining to watch. Although 2D animations are more common, that isn’t to say that 3D ones are bad. In fact, they’re better than 2D ones in a lot of places. For example, 2D animations tend to focus on the manipulation of an image, while 3D ones tend to focus around a world being loaded and a character/object interacting with everything in the world. 2D animations are better because they are faster to make, and require not a lot of effort, but 3D animations are harder to make and require lots of patience, skill, and determination. Each have their weaknesses and strengths, and each are viable in their own way.

May 29 – June 4, 2016. Entry #3:

We added some final details to the Flipbook, 2D, and 3D parts, and currently working on something called “illusion” animation, which is basically a way 2D animations make it look a little 3D. We’re also working on animations in cartoons/TV shows, which is basically drawn animation. Drawn animation is a 2D animation which is drawn frame by frame, then sped up, and put into an animation. The hardest part about this part was how we were going to explain it on paper, but we managed to get through it.

June 5 – June 11, 2016. Entry #4:

This week we started writing on SFX, an acronym for special effects, which you will find in a lot of movies you watch. How do you think people make these slow motion stuff and blood dripping from the actors? They use mostly SFX. We have 2 and a half pages on that topic, which used up all our time this week, however, we did get started on one more thing, and that is famous animators/directors/voice actors, but we only started that, so we’re still working on that.

June 12 – June 18, 2016. Entry #5

This week we mostly worked on the animations we were going to present. My friends doing the 3D one, and I’m going to do the Flipbook animation. Other than that, we didn’t do much this week on our inquiry. We finished the famous animators/directors/voice actors, but we only added 3, but they’re really famous ones. We also did 1 2D animation which my friend drew. It isn’t the holy grail of animations, but it’s good enough considering how we’ve started this project with only a month to do this. He says he’s working on another 2D one as well, and same deal with that.

June 19 – June 21, 2016. Entry #6:

Our Inquiry fair is almost here, in fact, it’s tomorrow on the 22. My friend finished his last 2D animation and he’s hard at work on his 3D one. He’s using an animation engine that takes a lot of skill to use, not because I have experienced it, but because I’ve seen people animating 20 minute long videos with that engine, and it took them around 6 months to do all the animating, editing, and everything else. Meanwhile, I’ve been finishing up our Inquiry and adding a couple of last minute details to it. I changed up the SFX part, and put a new picture instead of the old one and deleted some stuff that didn’t match for that part and added some more. I also put down all the animation engines we used for the animations that we made, and put a few links to the sites where we were gathering information from, and all that. I also modified the title a bit, and gave our project a company name: Bearded-Brothers Productions. Currently, I am working on my Flipbook animation. (Update) Today’s the inquiry fair. I made the Flipbook but I forgot it at home. LOL.

My Inquiry Journal

May 27, 2016         Inquiry in a Nutshell!!

So… I forgot to keep track of my inquiry, but now i will start now. So a problem I had was that I didn’t know what to do for my inquiry, but some of the ideas I thought of were:

  • Colour
  • Inventions Of the Future
  • Weather
  • Flowers
  • What Soap is made of
  • Food

But the closest one I almost did was the history of the iphone. However, after a while, I thought it wouldn’t be a good inquiry for me because I don’t own any iphones.

But then I thought maybe I should do fashion, but someone said that it should be more specific, so I think I will make my inquiry about questions I have about women’s fashion.

I hope this turns out successful.

June 3, 2016                              Why do people follow fashion trends?

I thought about why people follow fashion trends, and I wanted to know why. So this is what I found:

Why do people follow fashion trends? So, overall, I found out that people follow fashion trends because they want to feel confident or impress others around them.

By following fashion trends, a person is able to show their identity to their peers and also express themselves.

In addition to showing one’s identity, a person is also able to gain confidence by keeping up with the latest fashion trend. Confidence is sometimes determined by how a person sees himself or herself more than how other people see them. So, when a person wears the most stylish clothes since they are part of the latest collection, the person is able to be more confident about themselves.

By following fashion trends, people are also able to impress others.. This is because most people appreciate individuals who have a unique style. A person could impress someone else because they want to start a relationship with them just by following fashion trends.

June 10, 2016
Hey guys!! So I thought about some different styles of fashion, and wanted to see what they are. So I did some research about it. This is what I found:

What are some types of fashion styles? Fashion styles are a commonly misunderstood idea, which is less complicated than it often seems.

All outfits are grouped according to similarities in pattern, fabric, style line and color. Fashion style generally refers to the groups of personality traits that people have.

Fashion style is like a character sketch that describes a personality out of a fashion theme. For example, if you have arty fashion type, you may be drawn to arty themes in apparel.

So here are some of the different types of fashion styles:

  • BohemianBohemian style is characterized with artistic interests like arty style. However, the difference is that Bohemian style focuses on some exotic patterns and textures.
  • ArtyArty, as the name suggests, pertains to a creative thinker. The clothes an arty girl wears shows her artistic themes. Arty style avoids the conventional and chooses something unique.
  • ChicOne of the popular types of fashion styles is the chic style. “Chic” is often synonymous with “trendy” or “fashionable”. People who favour this style prefer classic and stylish designs that are striking and smart.
  • ClassicClassic style may express comfort, but actually it focuses more on quality and popular styles.  It focuses on clean uncluttered lines and formal balance, which expresses a sense of stability..  If you have this type of fashion, you are showing simple elegance in your wardrobe.
  • ExoticExotic style focuses on something very uncommon, striking yet excitingly different. A traveler who comes from another exotic land may show exotic style. Exotic style is often mysterious and fascinating.
  • Flamboyant“Flamboyant” is associated with “dramatic”. However, between flamboyant and dramatic, flamboyant is more energetic and outgoing. The main characteristic of flamboyant is being flashy., asymmetrical, and bold..
  • GlamorousGlamorous style shows a dazzling look accompanied with refined drama. Similar to flamboyant style, the clothes often get everyone’s attention.
  • SophisticatedPeople with sophisticated style are not easily satisfied. Similar to classic, these people want high quality.. Aside from high quality, distinction and culture polish which is beyond the elegance are needed. People who appreciate sophisticated style are often socialites or want to be one.
  • TomboyTomboy style is for a girl who wants to wear something simple and who doesn’t like to wear pink. Tomboy style focuses on graphic tees and distressed shirts from the boy section of department stores. This apparel is a bit baggy but it is not a bad thing..
  • GothGothic fashion is a clothing style influenced by Goth subculture. This style is characterized with dark and morbid style of dress. Common Gothic style includes black lips, black hair as well as black clothes.
  • PunkPunk style had started after the World War II but it became popular in the 1970’s. It had gone through different modifications and style twists but the main goal of punk style is to be edgy..
  • PreppyPreppy style is very popular among college students. This style is often girly but not too much frilly. The clothes are great to mix and match. In most of the time, the style may appear luxurious but actually people with this style do not have to spend a lot of money to get this look.

June 17, 2016

Hey guys! This is the final week I will get to work on my inquiry!! So, I am planning to make a poster to show what I’ve learned. I am also going to add some questions that I unfortunately didn’t get the answer to because I started my inquiry late.

My Other Questions About Fashion:

  • What would fashion look like 100 years from now?
  • What did fashion look like 200 years in the past?
  • What are the weirdest materials that people once actually used to try to make clothes?
  • Is there a shirt that goes with everything (does it look good with every outfit)?

Thank you for reading!!!

inquiry journal

Day one

hey guys I’ve gotten started on my inquiry it’s about coding games so now you know what’s about my inquiry journal. I had a huge problem in my glacier run game it wouldn’t do what I wanted it to do, the whole screen moved when I needed the character to move. So I moved on to another game called circle wars it was a lot easier to make but more challenging to play but there is always that little problem when ever I started the game is always said defeat and stopped the game I had to rework the programming of the game so it didn’t stop when the game started.

Day two

On Saturday I finished my game that I made it’s called gold miner it’s based on the Yukon territories’s gold rush where you move a gold miner through a cave and collect all the gold. It’s a pretty simple game you move the miner with the arrow keys. But if you don’t know what to do you lose. I’ve got an animation ready too I’ve animated my name with colours size changes and sound. And an update on circle wars nobody can beat it except it’s creator. Some problems with gold miner when it started it stopped I didn’t realised it until I remade the background.

Day three

On Sunday I finished a game called rent collect. I think in this one the tells what to do in the game. You move a rent collector to the yellow rectangles witch are cheques and when you touch them you collect them. You move the rent collector with the arrow keys there are three floors to the game. It was really hard to make the you win come up first it was to small then the rent collector was to big. I’ve made a game called ping pong where you have to get as many points as you can without losing. You move by moving the mouse.

Day four

So I’m going to tell you how I learned how code like a pro. I had a book on how to code games so I tried how to make a game called star hunter and the game was pretty successful so that is how I learned how to code. I learned how to make circle wars from  the book. I learned how to make an animation on the website where there is a question mark I clicked the button and there were so many options. I chose the second one and that’s where I learned how to make an animation(that’s where I made ping pong).

Day five

So I got a new animation game like thing it’s where there is a taco and a cat and they are flying through a city. You move the up and the down arrow keys. But in the taco it is opposite up is down and down is up so you can make a cat and taco crossover. Something that was hard to do in my cat and taco crossover is to make a trail of orange behind the cat in the taco the trail was already there so I didn’t have to do any thing to make a trail. I am also exited for the inquiry fair on Tuesday.

Day six

So I have finished up a PowerPoint slides where I explain what is coding and a basic way of moving the cat on scratch. A update on the inquiry fair it is on Wednesday not Tuesday Wednesday. Something hard about making the slides was that giving the information on the slide. My favorite part about the inquiry fair is seeing everyone’s projects. The hardest game to make was circle wars because the blue circle kept stopping and it has to be the best to watch people play because it is unbeatable.

Inquiry Project

4/24/16            Week 1

Hi everyone, we are going to be doing inquiry projects again. It will be the same as our old inquiry projects but we have to choose a different topic. You guys might remember my old inquiry topic and it was about marine mammals, my topic this time will be about animals again but instead i will be doing… Animal hybrids! Basically an animal hybrid is a mix of to animals, lets say that there is a  male tiger and a female lion mix then it would be a tigon, but if there was a male lion and a female tiger mix then it would be a liger.                       This is the main source and it’s also the source that made me want to do animal hybrides is the first place. http://www.boredpanda.com/strange-hybrid-animals-that-are-hard-to-believe-actually-exist/

Every week I will be talking about one hybrid animal and facts about it. Be sure to check out my blog entry next week to learn about a liger a male lion and female tiger cross.

5/3/16            Week 2

Okay so there is this one liger named Shasta and there is something special about her, she is special because she was the first liger ever born. Shasta was born in the America,  Salt Lake City in Hogle zoo in 1948 and died in 1972 because of a kidney failure. Shasta was the first birth of her mother so the mother didn’t take care of her that well so Shasta was hand fed by humans. When Shasta was a child she loved to climb because of the instincts from her mother. Tigers are said to be better climbers then lions. Ligers normally have the facial features of there mothers  (tiger) but Shasta had the face of her father (lion). Shasta’s mom was a Siberian Tigeriss and her father was a African Lion.

Next week I will be talking about the Tigon, a male tiger and female lion cross.

5/9/16           Week 3

I learned that tigons are more rare then ligers, even though the first tigon was born in 1943, five years before the first liger, Shasta. When born in captivity, Tigers will live for at least thirty years, but when a Tigon is born in captivity it will live for ten years or less. The reason Tigons or any hybrid animal does not live as long is because they could have cancer, arthritis, or dwarfism. It is unnatural for an animal of one species to mate with an animal of a different species.

For the inquiry fair, I had the idea of making a model that you can take apart and put back together to customize your own hybrid animal. I’m thinking of using styrofoam, but it might be hard to work with. I thought about using clay but the clay might stick together. I will have to experiment.

Next week I will be talking about the zonkey, a zebra/donkey mix.

5/20/16           Week 4

I think zonkeys are cool animals because they have the colour of a donkey but when you look at there legs you can see the donkey colour kind of fading into to the zebra pattern.   baby-zonkey

This is a picture of a zonkey.

Hybrids like Ippo are very rare. They have various traits from both parents, their appearance is more a donkey, but they have striped legs and tummies and a wilder temperament than a donkey. Ippo the zonkey, is a lovely two-for-one hybrid of the zebra and the donkey. Ippo was born  at an animal reserve in Florence, Italy.  Ippo’s dad jumped the fence and wondered into a enclosure housing endangered Amiata donkeys. In the enclosure Ippo’s dad met Ippo’s mom and twelve months later Ippo was born!

Hoped you guys liked my blog entry this week, come back next week to learn about a jaglion. A male jaguar mix with a female lion.

5/26/16           Week 5

on Week 3 of my inquiry journal I told you guys that I might use styrofoam and clay but it didn’t work because the clay wouldn’t stick to the styrofoam and then everything turned into a big mess. Instead of using clay and styrofoam I have been thinking about making a 2 or 3 different puzzles so that people can choose which puzzle they would like to make, then they can try and guess which animal hybrid is on the puzzle that the person just built. Anyways, this week I will be talking all about a jaglion. Right now you might be thinking “what the heck’s a jaglion?”, a jaglion is a male jaguar mix with a female lion. I think jaglions are super cool and beautiful animals.

This is a picture of a jaglion, to me this animal looks really cool because from a far it looks like a normal jaguar because of its black coating but if you look up close you can see the spots from the lion. I also love this animal because of its beautiful fur coat.

This is a source that I really like and it’s about two jaglions: Tsunami and Jazhara two jaglions and on the website it talks about there parents and stuff like that so make sure to check out the website.

http://www.bearcreeksanctuary.com/jaglions.htm

Next week I will be talking about a Geep. Goat sheep cross

6/9/16      Week 6

A geep is probably the cutest animal hybrid I a have ever seen.

Isn’t this animal adorable.

This geep’s name is Butterfly, Butterfly lives at a petting zoo located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Butterfly was born, July 27th 2014. Butterfly’s mother, was named Momma and her father was named, Michael.

Since goats have 60 chromosomes and sheep have 54 chromosomes, like any other animal hybrid, this can lead to health problems. Very rarely geep’s, like Butterfly, survive and in total have around 57 chromosomes, which is enough chromosomes for geep to survive. Butterfly’s features are a blend of her parents. Her hooves and face are from Michael (father, goat), while her body is covered in a thick, warm woolen coat from Momma (mother, sheep).

Next week is the last inquiry journal about a animal hybrid, and week 8 will be about how i’m going to present my work and all that jazz.
Next week I will be talking about a coywolf, a coyote, wolf mix.

Inquiry Journal

Jan 2.

Hi I’m doing my inquiry project on writing a story. I have been brainstorming and been starting to write but of course I still have a ways to go. I find it fun to let my imagination run free. I’m doing both my rough draft and my good copy on a computer. That’s what I have done this Week.

Feb 15.

I have just written 2 more pages of my story. I’m getting more interesting as I go on. Here’s part of my story so you can see what I’m working on.

Then that night they went hunting. Daniel took the shotgun Raine took the bow and Hunter took a Bow and they all had knives. They swiftly moved through the trees and then Daniel climbed a sturdy oak tree and she aimed at a big moose. She shot straight on 3 times and then Hunter and Raine took care of it from there. Daniel went on without them and she got a Caribou an Elk and a Deer. Hunter and Raine caught up to her before she went on every time.
