Should We Eat Seals?

I’m a bit confused because it’s part of some peoples food chain for people that live in Antarctica.  These people can’t go to the grocery store to buy food so they hunt the seals.

I think for me I don’t want to eat seals,  because I’m thinking of how cute they are and it probably doesn’t taste good.  I also feel bad for the seals because some people do not care about killing these cute animal they only care about their food.

I think we should leave the seals alone and let them live because they could become extinct.

Edible Canadians

Hi,In my class we were talking about harp seals on the menu my friends thought it was gross but i thought it was good we were having a vote then my friends decided that we would want to talk harp seals off the menu that’s when my teacher told us that we’re gonna write on our blogs about harp seals My thoughts is to eat seals because some people don’t  have a lot of food so they, might have to eat seals we should eat seals because there is a lot of harp seal We should not eat seals because they did not harm us also then they will be endangered specie for the past six years, nearly 400,000 harp seals were hunted by Canadians the population has declined rapidly by over 50% , and there were an estimated 5,500,000 Harp seal in 2004 harp seals can live up to 25 to 30 years in the wild  so that is all i have to say to you guys and girls.

Seals on the Menu?

Should seals be on the menu? Well a Canadian restaurant on Vancouver Island (Edible Canada) seems to think so.

I think that seals, an important part of Canadian cuisine, should be sold. On two conditions. EVERY part of the seal gets used and that we CONTROL how much we take. If we don’t use every part of the seal then who knows where it goes! It could go to the ocean, landfills and who knows where else. And if we don’t control how much we take seals could become extinct or endangered.

Also the government only let’s us harvest 400,000 a year and on average we only take 350,000. More than one million seals have been slaughtered in the past five years alone. The last time seals were killed at this rate the harp seal population was reduced by as much as two thirds.

Some people have their reasons for not eating seal, religion or because seals have a chance of being extinct, but “Because they’re cute” is not a valid one. All animals have feelings but that doesn’t stop us from eating cows, pigs, or chickens. The idea of just not eating seals or any food on the basis that it’s cute doesn’t make any sense.

So, yes, seals should be on the menu. Thank you for reading my views on the subject.

Seal as a Meal

We eat cows, pigs, chickens and other animals. Why should eating seal be any different? I think it is okay to eat seals even though other people might disagree. Other people and animals eat seal in the world. It is part of Inuit peoples food chain, but it could wipe out the animal’s population. Even though it is not common to eat seal where we come from, it might be for another culture and region. For Inuit people, they rely on seals every day. Not everywhere on Earth has chickens, cows, pigs, etc. They have to work with what they have. In order to survive, they eat seal meat and their eyeballs as nourishment. Even though more than a thousand seals have been killed for basic survival, 41,700,000 cows are killed each each year for our survival. There is a choice on whether you want to eat something or not. Even though you do not agree, we have our own opinions on what we want to do. Yes, it is cruel to eat seal, but it is for our own good.
