December Precept

Fortune Favors The Bold.

I think that means that people that take risks and are confident fortune will come. So if you are doing something brave and people are doubting you and ignore them you will get fortune. And the list can go on and on so that’s the main idea I have. But there’s more to think about.

Maybe this means fortune goes to the people that work hard. And there fortune is just getting what they were working hard for.

An example I have from Wonder is about Summer. She sat with August at the time rumors about him were big but she sat with him anyway. And said it was crowded at the other table she was and I think here fortune was she got to have alot of fun at lunch sitting with August.

November Precept

Have no friends equal to yourself.

I have been thinking and i might not have a long expatiation but i may have a little so i think this means have friends that have different skills than you so you can learn different things from them and that’s my first idea.

my next idea is that it means to have friends who are better than you. Because they will guide you and don’t be friends with people lower than you unless you are ready to help them. And that’s my second idea but I think there way more stuff I am missing.there’s. And I also don’t have the book with me so I can’t make an references.

February Precept

The February precept is: “It’s better to know some of the questions than all the answers.” – James Thurber

I think Mr.Thurber meant that if you just know the answers then that doesn’t show any evidence that you tried to understand the questions. If you just know the answers then people might assume that you asked your friend for the answers. If you ask a whole bunch of questions then it shows that you are interested in the learning process.

This precept also reminds me of a time before the 1500’s when most people thought the Earth was flat. The way this makes a connection to me is the fact that the people thought they had all the answers and never questioned their beliefs. They never asked themselves “Am I wrong?” or “Does this make sense?” It’s a good thing some people like Christopher Columbus did ask themselves these questions to find out for sure if the world was flat or round.

Goodbye Reflection

In the chapter goodbye that we finished it was really fast pace in my opinion because out of nowhere there is a fight between Isabel(August and Olivia mom) Olivia(Via) and August about a play that’s happening at Olivia’s school and August thinks that Olivia doesn’t want August to come because she doesn’t want to be known for having a deformed brother and she wants to be known for being a normal girl in high school.

So when August raged to his room expecting his mom to follow him she doesn’t a couple seconds later Olivia comes in and said “get to the living room now” then I think things are going to get serious then the mom says” come say goodbye to daisy” (the dog) and i am already sad because the have to put her down so like when the mom comes back daisy isn’t with them so i am so so so so sad cause i may not have a dog but i have been a pretty big dogs fan and that is my reflection on the chapter “Goodbye”

Hawaii

Hey guys it’s me Angelina, and on Saturday Jan 2nd we went to Hawaii and on Saturday 9th (today) we’re coming back to Vancouver. So on Monday for breakfast my mom, brother, aunt, uncle, moms boyfriend, and my other uncle went to Wailana’s Café and Diner and it was really good Hawaiian food. Then after breakfast we went back to the hotel room and got changed into our bathing suits and went to the beach and went swimming. After swimming we went for dinner at Side Street Inn and it was amazing food. On Tuesday we went to dim sum for brunch then for dinner we went to red lobster and it wasn’t that good, it was ok. On Wednesday we went to a aquarium called Sea Life Park, at the aquarium there was a bird cage and we got to go in and feed the birds. After that we went on a boat and we saw swimming in the ocean. Then we went to Sam’s Kitchen for dinner and it was good. On Thursday we went to Kailua beach, then Subway for lunch. On Friday we went to Hanauma Bay and went snorkeling, for dinner we went to Roy’s.
