My Inquiry Project will be about GRAVITY!! , to start off, I’ll explain what Gravity is. Gravity is what pulls you to the ground every time you jump. Without Gravity, you’d float up and pass Earth’s Atmosphere. Any object that has mass is affected by gravity. Gravity acts like a magnet which pulls objects, with mass, to the ground. What causes Gravity is unknown.

Today, I learned that sometimes people confuse mass with weight, when really, weight is the result of mass.

Today I learned what mass was made of and what it does. Mass is made of the stuff matter is made of, Molecules. Molecules are a bond of Atoms together, and Atoms are made of the three subatomic particles: Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons. Mass is also the amount of stuff in an object. Mass is measured in KG (Kilograms).

Today I did more research and Found out that there was a Scientist (I think) named Galileo Galilei, who wanted to figure out which would come down first, a ten pound ball or a five pound ball. Both balls came down at the same time. Gravity works the same on all objects, unless wind, or anything else, comes in the way.

I also found out how strong Gravity. Just imagine Gravity pulling on everything and not letting it go, not even light! This is the start of a black hole. The gravity in the black hole pulls everything into the center which may be small as a single atom. This makes a black hole not visible! There are at least approximately more than a million black holes in the Galaxy!

So how do Astronauts float in space if the pull of Gravity is so strong? Well, the Astronauts are still being pulled by Earth’s Gravity, just the same as the rest of us.

I also learned more facts on Sir Isaac Newton, who is known-credited for explaining Gravity. Like the fact that he published all his ideas in a book in 1687, and his famous three laws of motion!

What is matter?

Matter is what is needed to make/cause mass. Matter is made of molecules, which are made with Atoms. There are 5 states of matter: Liquid, Solid, plasmas, Gases (Clouds and stuff), and be condensates.

The Inquiry Fair is going to come up soon, so I have to get more facts, and start formatting my poster on Gravity. I found out a fact I should have known, Gravity keeps planets in orbit.

Just to sum it all up, Gravity has a gravitational pull which only works with objects that have mass, the pull is stronger or weaker depending on the amount of Mass the object has. Gravity is a force of attraction. You can exert a gravitational pull on the people around you, but it won’t be super strong.

Entomophagy

Hi its Aylah here to talk about bugs! Here is a weird fact; I eat Crickets! I know I know it sounds weird but flavor them with some barbecue sauce and honey mustard it tasted great. Bugs are everywhere so just embrace them (And eat them!)

Try something new every day and it will feel great. Bugs are a living thing so we should respect them to! Be kind to all animals!

Feb. Precept

The Feb. Precept this month is: “It is better to know some of the questions than to know all of the answers” which is a quote by James Thurber. My Theory on this Precept is that it is better know some of the questions because you can branch out ideas from a question, while if you know the answer, it won’t do you any good because that’s it, once you know the answer, you’re done, there isn’t a good reason to continue what you are working on, other than trying to find other answers or ways to solve it. While, a question will open your mind up to different possibilities because if you get a question, the first thing you do is try to solve it, but if you stay and keep thinking about the question, your mind will almost always find out other ways you can solve it or understand it. A question is really powerful in many ways, while an answer is rock bottom, which is no fun at all. I’m not saying knowing the answer is horrible or bad, or that you shouldn’t always cut to the chase, or it is bad to think for the answers, I’m saying that if there is a question, try to maximize your understanding of it, to make your answer 100% accurate or correct. In my opinion, I fully agree with Mr. Thurber on his quote.

A connection I have to this quote is when I would get a bunch of questions on homework or a test or something, and I would always just think about the answer and have a difficult time doing so, so instead of that technique, I started breaking down the question or try to understand it more. Say the question was “You have 10 apples, I take away 3, how many do you have?” if I didn’t understand it, which I do, I would sit and think, than to try to find an answer, usually, if it’s a complicated question with big words, instead of just ignoring them and finding the answer with the words I know, I would figure out those words, then, I would start thinking about how I would answer it, or break it down. It’s always better to know the questions than to know the answers, because a question can bring up so many different ways, possibilities, or techniques.

Books

If we all had some books,

Well learn more about Captain Hook,

We could also know about Fantasy

Like the boy Peter Pan,

Some say he’ll never be a man.

When we read some books,

We could all be good at school,

No one will be a fool,

And now everyone is cool.

When  we are older

We could get jobs like a yodler,

And many many more,

That’s why we should all read books.

WISHES

Wishes, O wishes if I had any wishes,

I could save the world from running out of fish’s

When you’re running out of wishes

You could ask for some more,

But i n the end be careful what you wish for.

                                                                                                    Cause now i’m a man

A man man man, now i can

                                                                                                   Cause now i’m a man

December Precept

“Fortune favours the bold.” is Mr. Browne’s December precept. In this paragraph, I’ll be explaining what I think the meaning is. I think “Fortune favours the bold” means that those who are brave or courageous get a better future/fortune. For example: Terry Fox was diagnosed with leg cancer, and it changed his life dramatically. When he survived cancer, he looked at all those kids who haven’t, and he decided to run around Canada to raise awareness and money for Cancer of any sort. He was bold and brave, and his fortune was being famous for his courageous act.

A bold act has a different fortune every time, a fortune is a chance of luck OR an earn of money, but in this case I think it is a good future and that is what I think the precept means.
