I am very grateful that the Beedie Group showed us what they do and gave us a tour around their office!!
They divided us into groups and at one point, one of the workers there said that whoever answers this question correctly and most quickly will win a prize. The question was “What is an important thing that workers [the people who build houses, etc.] should wear?”, the people who answered this correctly and quickly got a “hard hat” as a prize.
I really liked seeing the miniature models of buildings. (How cute!)
We got to see a building in progress (from inside the bus)!! Andrew, a worker from the Beedie Group, showed us big piles of sand called preloads. The preloads were used to compress the soil. We also got to see a bunch of workers lift a concrete wall using a crane. It was very cool!!
It was also an honour meeting Mr. Beedie, the founder of the Beedie group. We got to see his office (which had lots of models of planes, a treadmill and a TV).
I think it was very generous of the Beedie group to give us a free pizza lunch!! Thank you! I appreciate you guys for that!!
I think you’ll find that many of us will agree with you that this trip was very interesting, full of new things for all of us to learn, and very generous on the part of the Beedie Group. And it WAS very cool to see those walls tilted into place. What a feat of planning & coordinating all of the materials and workers!
If the way they treated us was anything like they way employees are treated, it’s no wonder they have been recognised as one of the best places to work in Canada!
