Silent Reading Book

Written By: migliurit - Sep• 24•24

📚 Why You Should Always Have a Silent Reading Book!

Hey everyone!

I wanted to take a moment to talk about the importance of having a silent reading book on hand and making time to read at home. Here’s why it matters:

1. **Boosts Your Brainpower**
Reading regularly helps improve your vocabulary, comprehension, and critical thinking skills. The more you read, the better you get at understanding complex texts, which is super helpful in all your classes!

2. **Escape and Explore**
A good book can take you on incredible adventures without ever leaving your chair. Whether it’s fantasy, mystery, or even a non-fiction story, reading can be a great way to unwind and explore new worlds.

3. **Daily Habit = Lifelong Skill**
Setting aside just 20 minutes a day can make a huge difference. It’s like working out for your brain! By incorporating reading into your daily routine, you develop a lifelong habit that pays off academically and personally.

4. **Classroom Benefits**
Having your own silent reading book in class means you’re always prepared. It’s a great way to fill any downtime, keep engaged, and even spark conversations with classmates about what you’re reading.

5. **Sharing is Caring**
When you find a book you love, you’ll want to share it with others. Bringing a book to class opens up opportunities for discussions and recommendations, making our reading community even stronger.

### **Let’s Make It Happen!**
So, make sure you have a book ready to dive into during silent reading time! And remember, aim for 20 minutes of reading each day at home. Your future self will thank you for it!

Happy reading! 📖✨

Welcome to Our Class!

Written By: migliurit - Sep• 09•24

Welcome to a brand new school year! I’m Ms. McCann (formerly Ms. Migliuri), and I’ll be your Grade 5/6 teacher this year. I’m thrilled to meet each of you and start this exciting adventure together!

As the Head Teacher at Suncrest, I’ll be out of the classroom on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons for office duties. During these times, Mr. Cheung will be your other teacher. He’ll be teaching you Science, ADST, and PE this year, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy learning from him.

In our class, we’ll explore new subjects, embark on fun projects, and work together to make this year fantastic. I believe learning should be both exciting and enjoyable, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.

This year, we’ll dive into creative writing projects, passion projects, and exciting math challenges, among other things. I’m eager to hear about your interests and what you’re excited to learn!

A little about me: I got married this summer, I love traveling to warm places, and I’m a big Canucks fan! I’m looking forward to getting to know you and learning about your interests too.

Feel free to ask me any questions or share your thoughts—communication is key to our success. Let’s make this year full of growth, discovery, and fun!

Can’t wait to work with you all!

Warm regards,
Ms. McCann
