We learned how to estimate the height of a tree using triangulation with a stick the length of our arms, played some cooperative PE games outdoors, completed a nature scavenger hunt, and worked together to build shelters.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the forest shelters we built on Wednesday and some of the learning comments:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The first time we got it all wrong and we were trying to build things separately and do different jobs. Now I can see we need to work together to build it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The first time we didn&#8217;t have the frame quite right. We need to have a triangle with a beam across to make it more stable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s really important to build a firepit because that&#8217;s where we will stay warm while we&#8217;re building the shelters and it&#8217;s important to have rocks around the edge so it doesn&#8217;t destroy the shelter and spread.
