Join us Tuesday May 26th at 10:30 am for Snack and Story. We will be reading the story \u201cCounting on Frank\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. Come up with 5 big numbers and what they mean.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Example from the story: The average ballpoint pen draws a line <em>2060<\/em> meters<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ex2: It takes <em>11 hours and 45<\/em> minutes to fill the bathroom with water<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. Estimation: Come up with at least one &#8220;how many&#8221; Math questions that you can answer. Before checking your answer, make an estimation or guess.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Example: How many times in a day does the refrigerator door get opened? (Tape a piece of paper to your fridge door. Write your estimation\/prediction and tally every time someone opens it).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ex2: How many\u00a0 pieces of Lego will fit into a mason jar? Write down your prediction, fill up a jar with Lego, then count!<\/p>\n<p>4. Tell me everything you know about the number 86! Record your answer in writing, drawings, equations, audio, video or whatever mixed media you choose. Think back to all of the things we talked about in class. Here are some things to consider:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What does 86 look like?<\/li>\n<li>Combien de dizaine et d&#8217;unit\u00e9s?<\/li>\n<li>write an equation<\/li>\n<li>what could 46 mean?<\/li>\n<li>C&#8217;est presque&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>**Grade 1 students may choose to share everything they know about the number 36<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Math Activities #7: Large number Review\u00a0 1.
