Yes, he is one of my favourite musicians, and he is also one of the most important saxophone players in the history of jazz music.<\/h5>\n<h5>In 1967, John Coltrane teamed up with a drummer named <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rashied Ali<\/span> to record a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">free jazz<\/span> album that was called &#8220;Interstellar Space&#8221;.<\/h5>\n<div id=\"attachment_469\" style=\"width: 190px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-469\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-469 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/martinj\/files\/2020\/06\/Rashied-Ali-001-180x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/martinj\/files\/2020\/06\/Rashied-Ali-001-180x300.jpg 180w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/martinj\/files\/2020\/06\/Rashied-Ali-001.jpg 276w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 180px) 100vw, 180px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-469\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rashied Ali<\/p><\/div>\n<h5>Free jazz is a special type of jazz music that might sound unusual to you at first. Like most other jazz music, free jazz features lots of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">improvisation,<\/span> which is when the musicians use their creativity to make up new parts that fit with the song while they are playing it.<\/h5>\n<h5>What makes free jazz special is that it usually doesn&#8217;t use harmony, tempo, form, and other musical elements in the same ways that we are used to hearing them. Free jazz often &#8220;breaks the rules&#8221; that we use in other types of music.<\/h5>\n<h5>Just like Holst&#8217;s &#8220;The Planets&#8221;, the first two pieces of &#8220;Interstellar Space&#8221; are\u00a0called Mars and Venus.
