Service Canada – ASL Accessibility Feature!

Hello,

I recently learned earlier tonight that Service Canada now offers Video Remote Interpretation for clients who are ASL users. This means you can have a interpreter remotely for your appointments with Service Canada (e.g. passport renewal, Employment Insurance, Benefit claims, and other things).

This means that your parents or legal guardians do not have to interpret for you during meetings at Service Canada, especially when it involves you during the decision making process. Please let your family know about this accessible option for you and for your future needs with Service Canada.

Facebook Announcement (ASL Video Available)

I checked it out to see if it’s true. I used the Burnaby location as an example. If you look at the category: Language of Service, and it mentions American Sign Language upon availability.

Service Canada

I realize you are probably young to use Service Canada right now, except that you are never too young to know your rights to access interpreting services.
