Most of them seemed to care only about getting &#8220;the right answer.&#8221; For one of our Valentine&#8217;s Day activities, students had to guess how many fruit snacks are in this jar! We discussed how estimation can be a valuable skill to have in real life and guessing numbers that are close to the actual amount means it is a &#8220;good guess&#8221;. After looking at the size of one fruit snack and comparing this to other items we have estimated, all students agreed that it could not be 1000&#8230; or 100.\u00a0 They also agreed that it could not be 0, 1 or 5, or even 10.<\/p>\n<p>Here are our guesses:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-1883\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/loungsayf\/files\/2021\/02\/PXL_20210212_190844065.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"436\" height=\"581\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/loungsayf\/files\/2021\/02\/PXL_20210212_190844065.jpg 360w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/loungsayf\/files\/2021\/02\/PXL_20210212_190844065-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/loungsayf\/files\/2021\/02\/PXL_20210212_190844065-81x108.jpg 81w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 436px) 100vw, 436px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After counting them, we found out there were 22 fruit snack packs in the jar!
