Primary Days of Music 2019

Primary Days of Music is a festival held in Burnaby, including students who are in grades 2 and 3 from across the school district. This festival provides a great opportunity for students to learn, sing, and share songs with others. Our students have been working very hard on their pieces and are excited to perform!

Students will be singing 8 songs with all the students attending Primary Days of Music from different elementary schools from around the district, in addition to two songs that we are performing on our own.

A Distant Shore / The Water Is Wide

Once I gazed upon a distant shore,
Watching sea birds as they filled the sky.
Standing out there in the misty air,
How I wished that I could fly.

The water is wide, I cannot get o’er
And neither have I the wings to fly.
Give me a boat that can carry two,
And both shall row, my love and I.

Old King Cole

Old King Cole was a merry old soul, and a merry old soul was he.
He called for his pipe. And he called for his bowl.
And he called for his fiddlers three, oh yeah! He called for his fiddlers three.

Part 1:
Twang, twang, diddle diddle dang.
Plink, plink, plink, plink, diddle diddle dee.
Twang, twang, diddle diddle dang.
Diddle diddle diddle diddle diddle dee dee.

Old King Cole was a merry old soul, and a merry old soul was he.
He called for his pipe. And he called for his bowl.
And he called for his fiddlers three, oh yeah! He called for his fiddlers three.

Part 2:
Twee tweedle dee, twee tweedle dee,
Tweedle, tweedle, diddle diddle dee.
Twee tweedle dee, twee tweedle dee,
Tweedle, tweedle, diddle dee dee.

Every fiddler had a fine, fine fiddle, and a very fine fiddle had he.
There’s none so rare as can compare with Cole and his fiddlers three, oh yeah!
Cole and his fiddlers three.

(Part 1 and 2 together)

Folks all around came into town just to see those fiddlers three.
They danced and sang while the music rang.
And Cole kept time on his knee, oh yeah! Cole kept time on his knee.

Part 3:
Dum, da dum, da dum, da dum, da dum, da dum.
Dum, da dum, da dum, da dum diddy dum, diddy diddle dee dee.

(Part 1 and 2 and 3 together)

Old King Cole was a merry old soul!
