We review expectations daily\u2014like staying quiet during independent work, listening carefully during lessons, showing respect inside and outside the classroom, using class time wisely, and improving transitions. Students are developing their organizational skills, getting materials ready for each subject, and using their agendas to track important dates. Our daily community circles and social-emotional learning check-ins have supported growth in social responsibility, and I\u2019m proud to see noticeable progress\u2014way to go!<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"881\">In writing, we&#8217;ve been working on forming proper sentences and are now focusing on adding more detail. All writing is kept in our visual writing journals, which students personalized with meaningful decorations on the front and back covers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"881\">In Social Studies, we learned about Terry Fox and his mission, and began discussing residential schools through the novel <em data-start=\"1005\" data-end=\"1027\">My Name is Seepeetza<\/em>, which shares real experiences of life in a residential school. At the start of October, we launched our term project on global issues, where students are researching a topic of interest, exploring causes and current\/past solutions, and coming up with their own ideas for positive change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In September, we focused on building stronger work habits and classroom routines.
