Last week was busy with Student Leds. With no school again next Monday, April shapes up to be a very busy month indeed!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Please revisit homework expectations with your child.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Students should be writing homework in their planner EVERY day, with a minimum of 20 min of home reading every night. You can expect another 10 min\/day of other work such as<strong> Lit Circle work<\/strong> (reading, questions, connection and vocab), <strong>Science<\/strong> (reading, questions), <strong>Spelling packages<\/strong> and weekly quiz, <strong>What in the World<\/strong> &#8211; non-fiction reading and questions.<\/p>\n<p>If students are organized and working a little bit each day, this work load is <em>very<\/em> doable. If they are waiting to do this work until the night before it is due, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">they will struggle.<\/span> <strong>Organization is the key here.\u00a0<\/strong> Students who are efficient with their time at school are even better off.\u00a0 If you are unsure about homework, please check the student planner, TEAMS, or simply ask me (email works best).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>April news:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>April 13 &#8211; Student-led conferences (early dismissal Wed\/Thur at 2pm)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>April 13 &#8211; International Day of Pink<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; wear pink and become more aware of issues of homophobia<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffcc00;\"><strong>April 15\/17 &#8211; Good Friday\/Easter Monday<\/strong> <\/span>&#8211; no school<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #00ff00;\">April 22 &#8211; Earth Day<\/span>.<\/strong> <\/span>Wear green and blue.
