{"id":7316,"date":"2021-06-01T14:45:20","date_gmt":"2021-06-01T21:45:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/lanawayk\/?p=7316"},"modified":"2021-06-01T14:45:20","modified_gmt":"2021-06-01T21:45:20","slug":"burnaby-south-opening-up-their-honours-8-classes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/lanawayk\/2021\/06\/01\/burnaby-south-opening-up-their-honours-8-classes\/","title":{"rendered":"Burnaby South opening up their HONOURS 8 classes!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><em>Hello Grade 7 Families:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Burnaby South Secondary has recently decided to offer <strong>Grade 8 Honours classes<\/strong> in the subject areas of <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Math<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #339966;\">Science,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">English<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Social Studies<\/span><\/strong> for the upcoming school year.<\/p>\n<p>All of our Grade 7 students\/families who chose one of our Honours Classes have already been sent an email regarding this testing information.\u00a0 If you applied for any Honours Courses for September, to please check your email about this Honours testing information.<\/p>\n<p>It is important for students to know that they will <b>ONLY<\/b>\u00a0be able to write those Honours Assessments that they <strong>originally applied for in February<\/strong> &amp; will be<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> unable to write additional Honours Assessments if they were not on their original requests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Due to the limited spaces in their Honours courses, students will be doing an assessment to determine placement into these courses for September 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With covid-19 restrictions in place, <strong>all students will be doing an ONLINE assessment at HOME<\/strong>.\u00a0 Students will be using their Burnaby School District Microsoft Teams account to login and complete the assessment(s).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Students will be required to complete a practice online assessment between\u00a0<strong>Friday June 4\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Sunday June 6\u00a0<\/strong>before being allowed to participate in the actual assessment(s).\u00a0<\/span> The date and time of the actual online assessments are listed below:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Science<\/strong><\/span>:\u00a0<strong>Monday June 7 at 7:00 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Math:<\/span>\u00a0Monday June 7 at 7:30 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">English:<\/span>\u00a0Tuesday June 8 at 7:00 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Socials:<\/span>\u00a0Tuesday June 8 at 7:30 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More information about the Grade 8 Honours entrance assessments and a digital testing guide that walks you through the process can be found in the following documents.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/lanawayk\/files\/2021\/06\/gr-8-honours-information-2021.pdf\">Gr 8 honours information 2021<\/a>\u00a0 and <a href=\"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/lanawayk\/files\/2021\/06\/gr-8-honours-testing-guide-2021.pdf\">Gr 8 honours testing guide 2021<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello Grade 7 Families: Burnaby South Secondary has recently decided to offer Grade 8 Honours classes in the subject areas of Math, Science, English and Social Studies for the upcoming school year.
