These are some &#8220;ah-ha&#8221; moments that I had reading when reading The Giver, Chapter 5. I found out that the stirrings can be good for Jonas, but bad for the community. Stirrings could be connected to their birthmother and maybe even their future or past! I learned that Jonas is from a strict community where they want to avoid the &#8220;disease&#8221; (stirrings), so they give everyone pills. Stirrings could get worse later in life if not taken the pills.
