To honour and recognize Orange Shirt Day, we read the books Shi-shi-etko by Nicola I. Campbell and Our Orange Hearts by Phyllis Webstad. These powerful stories helped guide our conversations about Orange Shirt Day and the importance of truth and reconciliation. As a class, we talked about how every child should feel at school and wrote our feeling words on T-shirt\u2013shaped papers, which we then glued onto a giant orange heart. Many students shared thoughtful answers, like feeling safe, loved, and confident at school.<\/p>\n
