Division 8 engaged in a lot of thoughtful and meaningful activities for Literacy Week.
Monday: Family Read Event
We kicked off Literary Week with our Family Read event! It was such a wonderful morning having families come in to read with us!
Tuesday: Guest Reader
SFU Hockey players came to read to us! We got the chance to meet Liam, Jimmy, and Luka from the SFU Hockey Team. They read many books to us and also taught us about hockey!
Wednesday: Character Dress Up or Wear a shirt with words!
We got to dress up as storybook characters! There were so many creative costumes, such as Pikachu from Pokémon, Harry Potter, Elsa from Frozen, and many more.
Thursday: Door Decorating!
Throughout the week, we worked on our door art! We read the story “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus” by Mo Willems. We learned how to draw the infamous pigeon from his books and created speech bubbles with our own sayings! There were so many great ideas!
Friday: Buddy Read in the Dark!
We ended Literacy Week with our buddy reading in the dark event! We brought our flashlights and blankets to school and read with our big buddies in the gym.
