We had a visit from the Vancouver Warriors! It was so exciting to learn about the history of lacrosse and dive into the techniques and skills behind the game!

Meet our class pets: stick insects! We have five stick insects in the classroom, and we’ve been learning all about their life cycle, diet, habitat, and behaviour. These amazing insects are masters of disguise. They can stand perfectly still for hours, pretending to be sticks! They camouflage so well with their surroundings that sometimes it’s really hard to spot them. Our stick insects are still growing, and they will molt 4–5 times before reaching adulthood. We’ve already seen them molt once, and it was absolutely fascinating!
We had so much fun at our school-wide pumpkin patch! It was wonderful to walk around our forest area and look at all the different pumpkins. After choosing a pumpkin, we did a pumpkin investigation! We counted the ribs on our pumpkin, measured it, and learned about the pumpkin life cycle and the anatomy of a pumpkin.
Thank you to the PAC for organizing this event!
We used chalk pastels to create our pumpkins! We blended lighter colours to add highlights and darker colours to create shadows, which gave our pumpkins more depth. Then, we added twisting vines and a glowing moon in the background to make the scene feel lively and magical. Working with chalk pastels helped us explore color, texture, and shading!
