For math, we have been learning about repeating and increasing patterns. We went outside to collect natural materials, such as rocks, sticks, leaves, pine cones, and woodchips. Then we created patterns with the materials we collected! Can you identify the rule of our patterns?

For additional practice at home, you can create patterns with items you find around your home or outside, such as buttons, leaves, pencils, Lego figures, and more. How many patterns can you come up with? Can you design a repeating pattern? What is the core of this pattern (the part that repeats)? Can you label the pattern(e.g., AB, ABA, ABCD, etc.)?

Can you create an increasing pattern? How does it grow?
