{"id":568,"date":"2020-03-30T09:43:53","date_gmt":"2020-03-30T16:43:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/karlsons\/?page_id=568"},"modified":"2026-09-30T17:26:07","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T00:26:07","slug":"grade-two","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/karlsons\/grade-two\/","title":{"rendered":"Grade Two\/Three"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>October<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This October we will learn a song for the CBC Music Class Challenge called\u00a0<em>Pour A Little Sunshine In\u00a0<\/em><i>My Cup.<\/i> This song also meets our school goal of learning how to be a good friend to one another.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Sunshine In My Cup \u2600\ufe0f Kids Songs \u2600\ufe0f Jeremy and Jazzy\" width=\"863\" height=\"485\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WeAjxdRoOtY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>We are also going to learn a piece for Thanksgiving called\u00a0<em>Turkey Trot. The Turkey Trot<\/em> is a song with a game, xylophone accompaniment and singing. It will get us moving and singing again this school year. The accompaniment also has a very clear <strong>steady beat\u00a0<\/strong>for us to practice and follow along with.<\/p>\n<p>We may also play some games like\u00a0<em>Magic Spell<\/em> that have drama goals and\u00a0<em>Pass the Broomstick<\/em> with listening and cooperation goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>September<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are beginning this school year talking about\u00a0<strong><em>The Science of Sound.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will explore vibrations, sound waves, decibels, and the way different materials produce sounds to start our year with curiosity, and some understanding of what music actually is!<\/p>\n<p>Then we will play some simple songs with Orff percussion accompaniment to use these sounds in thoughtful ways. And silly ways!<\/p>\n<p>The songs we will explore are:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>There Are No Bananas In the Sky<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Alligator Pie<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Very silly, fun songs with lots of opportunities for instrument exploration.<\/p>\n<p>We will also do some drama activities as the spookier time of Fall approaches&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>October This October we will learn a song for the CBC Music Class Challenge called\u00a0Pour A Little Sunshine In\u00a0My Cup.
