{"id":564,"date":"2020-03-30T09:43:24","date_gmt":"2020-03-30T16:43:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/karlsons\/?page_id=564"},"modified":"2026-09-30T17:05:05","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T00:05:05","slug":"kindergarten","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/karlsons\/kindergarten\/","title":{"rendered":"Kindergarten"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>October<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the month of October, Kindergarten students will be learning many songs that cover the following objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fingerplay<\/li>\n<li>Naming body parts<\/li>\n<li>Learning how to follow in a line<\/li>\n<li>Learning how to use their singing, whisper, talking and loud voices<\/li>\n<li>Beginning to learn how to hold and properly play a hand drum<\/li>\n<li>Drama<\/li>\n<li>Rhythm<\/li>\n<li>Counting<\/li>\n<li>Creative Movement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will sing the following songs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When I Was One<\/li>\n<li>Itsy Bitsy Spider<\/li>\n<li>Magic Spell<\/li>\n<li>Engine Engine Number Nine<\/li>\n<li>Little Red Caboose<\/li>\n<li>If You&#8217;re Happy and You Know It<\/li>\n<li>Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes<\/li>\n<li>Little Bunny Foo Foo<\/li>\n<li>Where Is Thumbkin?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are also learning to be safe as we move, dance and play in a room with many other bodies. We do this through dancing and following the line in pathways. Each child will have a chance to lead the line as we negotiate our space and pathways in the music room. We will also be playing a drama game in which we pretend to move around the room as various animals. Safety and exploration of our own bodies and movements will be explored through this activity.<\/p>\n<p>We are starting to develop our singing voices and our capacity for listening and attending to a teacher and to each other in October.<\/p>\n<p><strong>September<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Welcome to Kindergarten Performing Arts!<\/p>\n<p>Students in Divisions 11, 15, 16 and 17 will be participating in activities to get them familiar with the routines and expectations of the music room.<\/p>\n<p>Students will learn to follow each other in a line and learn to make a circle on the carpet. We will follow the line in pathways and straight lines.<\/p>\n<p>Our first songs will help us identify parts of our bodies. We will learn\u00a0<strong><em>Thumbkin<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<em><strong>Head And Shoulders.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>We will sing\u00a0<strong><em>Little Bunny Foo Foo<\/em><\/strong> to learn the <a href=\"https:\/\/inman.burnabyschools.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/CodeOfConduct_revised-fall-2016.pdf\">Code Of Conduct<\/a> at the school in a child-friendly song\/story.<\/p>\n<p>We will start a unit on Trains to learn other rhythm, movement and pitch concepts.
