Last week of December updates and thank you

I just want to start by extending a sincere thank you to all of the Inman parents of choir members who brought and/or picked up their children from Metrotown Mall on Friday after school. Without you we would not have been able to do that lovely performance.

The children were thrilled to be able to perform in such a public setting. The mall personnel were delighted to have us there. What a lovely show of community that was!

The Inman school choir sang a 20 minute set, 2 times at the mall. One time in the Grand court (upper level) and one time in the Atrium court (upper level) to onlookers, family and shoppers. The children did an amazing job and brought such joy to so many people! They are to be congratulated!

As for our entry into the CBC Music Class Challenge, we did not make it into the top 10 in our category. However, two Burnaby schools did make it into the top 10! Congratulations to Second Street! They had 2 entries that made it into the top 10 in Junior Instrumental and Intermediate Instrumental! Capitol Hill elementary also made it into the top 10!

And an update for our events this coming week:

There will be a spirit day on Friday, December 19th. Festive Sweater Day! Wear your colourful, gaudy and winter/holiday themed sweaters to school on Friday!

And for our assembly on Thursday, not only are we learning about Hanukkah and Christmas and singing songs of those holidays, but we are also going to focus on Kwanzaa this week!

Here is the Kwanzaa song we will sing at the assembly. We will learn about Kwanzaa, Umoja, Nia and Imani.

These are Swahili words that mean: Harvest festival, Unity, Purpose and Faith respectively.
