Kindness

What makes a good friend? What makes a good listener? How can you be kind? We have been writing about and drawing pictures of the random acts of kindness we have been doing at our school. We’ve reached over 100 post it notes since the beginning of February! Way to go Division 10!

Watercolour Rainbow Fish

The story “The Rainbow Fish” by Marcus Pfister has a valuable message about the importance of sharing and being a good friend. We learned how to draw the Rainbow Fish with a guided drawing tutorial and then used watercolour paints to make them rainbow. We even added a special shiny scale on each fish!

Collecting Data

We started learning about collecting information or “data”. Today, we talked about foods and animals we like and don’t like and took a vote. After everybody voted, we recorded our results using a tally! We compared the two numbers. Ms. Omoto brought in a fun “Pac Man” to help us remember that Pac Man always wants to eat “more!”. In this example, we say “9 is greater than 5”.

Our Favourite Family Foods

Division 10 worked so hard on their art projects! While learning about our families and cultures, we talked with our families about some of our favourite dishes that remind us of “home” and created these with modelling clay!

Splat Math!

We have just finished learning our math facts to 10, and are continuing to practice our math facts to 20! “Splat Math” is a game we like to play where the green “splat” will cover some dots and we have to figure out how many the splat is covering.

Here are some questions we ask:

How many did the splat cover? How do you know? How did you count the dots?
