Lab Quiz (Finding/solving for the pH of four unknown solutions & explaining how you solved for the pH).

Day 1:  Chapter 5 Test Wed. Feb. 21, 2024 “Properties of Acids and Bases”

Day 2:  Chapter 5 Test Thurs. Feb. 22, 2024

The successful Student will be able to:

classify compounds

use the pH chart

understand the properties of salts + know how salts are manufactured

Know the acidic or basic properties of Metal Oxides and Non-Metal Oxides

Feb. 4/5, 2024

Complete your Lab Conclusion for Lab 5-2A “Three Salts”  From BC Science 10 Page  235 .

Link to Student copy of Lab 5-2A “Three Salts”

You need to make a well-supported argument that clearly frames your lab evidence (in easy-to-follow prose).  Work to  connects your lab data to the scientific principle explored in this lab.

FYI:
Chemical reactions are the result of successful Collisions between particles that result in a new arrangement of particles.

Salts are ionic compounds.  Salts are formed when the acid donates the anion to the cation of a base, a carbonate or a metal cation.

acid + metal = salt

acid + carbonate = salt

acid + base = salt
