All the teachers at Cascade Heights know how special Halloween can be to our students. We want to make this year’s celebration at our school just as memorable as previous years’, while ensuring everyone’s safety.
Dressing Up
First, we still encourage students to dress up on Friday, October 30th. Students should arrive at school in full costumes to prevent students from congregating in the washrooms to change into costumes and put on makeup. Please remember that costumes cannot be violent, bloody or too scary since the Kindergarten students may join us on the parade. Costumes may not include weapons of any kind. Masks may not cover the eyes as they are tripping hazards when we are out in the community.
The Halloween Parade Route
This year, we will be having the Halloween Parade outside. Then parade will be rain or shine, although very extreme weather may cause alteration of the parade route or even cancellation. Students will walk along the north side of Fir St. and Pine St. between Smith Ave. and Carleton Ave. Families are welcome to watch our parade from the south side of these streets with physical distancing in mind.
Please feel free to dress up too.
Treats
Given the uncertainty around whether trick-or-treating will take place this year, we are asking for families to have their children bring in prepackaged, individually wrapped candies/chocolates (store bought) to be shared among their classmates. For safety, all candies need to be brought to the school by Friday, Oct. 23rd so that I may pre-bag treats and quarantine them for several days. Anything brought after this day, will be returned to the family.
Allergies
Please be aware that we do have peanut allergies in our classroom. All treats must be clearly labelled on the box/bag that you purchase as peanut free.
Please do ask if you have any questions or concerns.
