Supporting and Cheering on the Construction workers!<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span> One of our students came up with the idea to create a thank you sign that we could hang in the window, letting the construction crew outside know that we appreciate them and all of the hard work they are doing to make our school bigger and better! Caring for our Community!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Story Workshop<\/strong><\/span>– as part of our story writing learning, one of the ways to develop creativity and imagination is to build a snapshot from a story. This helps boost the story-telling process!\u00a0 Students can choose loose materials provided and set them up in a desired arrangement. This then helps the student to show their story before they sit down to write the story. Ms. Helfrich takes a photo of their creation and that is added to the top of the writing paper for their story. This photo can be the beginning of their story, the middle, the problem, the solution or even the ending of their story. The students are learning to create an entire story around their one creation and not just write a few sentences describing what they have created.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Remembrance Day<\/strong>– Our school took some time to learn about, reflect upon and share about why and how we remember those who have fought hard to allow Canada to be a safe country. Our class shared what Peace feels like, smells like, tastes like, sounds like and what peace is. I was unable to get a photo of the class sharing in front of the primary classes, but here is a photo of the wreath the class made to honour our soldiers.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Story Writing<\/strong>– we are working through a program that teaches students step-by-step what elements need to be included in most stories and provides visuals and samples allowing students to learn and practice. Here is a visual of the story elements: setting, characters, problem, feelings, action (solution), ending and end feeling(s).\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
