We have officially completed our first week of Grade 1! I am very impressed by how quickly students have adapted to the new routines and procedures put in place to stay safe while at school. It has been a pleasure getting to know each student this week and to begin watching our classroom community develop. I can see that our classroom is filled with caring, cooperative, and eager learners! I look forward to a wonderful year of learning, exploring, and having fun together!
Today students were asked what they would like to share with their families about our first week of Grade 1. Here are some things that Division 16 students would like to share with their families from this week!
This week we enjoyed creating All about Me backpacks to help us get to know each other better. We also created some artwork inspired by the story The Dot by Peter H. Rynolds. Through this we learned that “even the simplest painting can be beautiful”, and that “it is important to try our best and focus on what we can do rather than saying I can’t.”
Science experiment underway!
Today we launched our first science experiment to explore germs and bacteria! Together we came up with questions and predictions that will help guide our experiment!
Some additional highlights include explorations where students had a chance to build and create using different materials, learning new names, and meeting new friends.
