It has been so wonderful to continue our learning together in 2022!! Below we share some of our learning with you over the last couple of weeks!
We are scientists!
We have been enjoying the nice weather this week by exploring outdoors! We have shown great interest in a tree that has recently fallen down in the Pocket Forest beside our school, and have decided to do an inquiry project to learn more about trees! Some of our wonders about trees include:
- Why can’t you see some trees roots?
- Why do trees get chopped down?
- Why do some trees have so many branches?
- Why are some parts of trees poisonous?
- Why are there little branches or trees growing out of another tree?
- Why does moss grow on trees?
- Why are some trees curved?
- Why are some trees winded up?
- Why do trees lose their leaves in the winter?
- What lives in the hole in the tree?
We began our inquiry by looking closely at the trees that live on our school grounds, choosing one to draw. Here are some photos from our time exploring in the forest!
We are Mathematicians!
We have been exploring different ways to model mathematical stories. Using different objects, students have explored strategies to make sense of, represent, and solve various problems. We have also been practicing documenting our thinking on paper and sharing our thinking with one another to help build on each others understandings.
We are citizens
Over the last few months, we have been exploring and sharing our stories, including what fills our hearts with happiness, what we dream to do or become, what we need to be the best version of ourselves. We are now moving into exploring and sharing who is part of our stories; our families! You will see a task to be completed at home next week that will involve uploading and sharing some of the things that are important to us and our families on Microsoft Teams.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
