We are raising butterflies! We have been noticing, wondering, and recording our observations as we watch our caterpillars grow! Stay tuned for updates as we continue to observe the life cycle of our Painted Lady Butterflies!
Design Challenge
Over the last few weeks, we have been working on designing and creating projects that aim to bring joy to members of our community. During the winter, we had visited eco-sculptures that were set up along Willingdon Avenue. Our experience and the feelings that these eco-sculptures brought us inspired us to do the same for others who are part of our community.
Students have been working both together and independently to focus on the process of design by planning, creating, and reflecting on our designs. While working on our projects, we have practiced generating ideas from experiences, choosing tools and materials, and using trail and error to make changes, solve problems, or incorporate new idea as we create. Please take the time to visit our window over the next week. Ask your child to share their experience with designing and creating their projects. The story of our design process will also be posted to your child’s ePortfolio in the coming days.
Author Visit
We have been discussing the role we play in protecting our local environment. We had the opportunity to have an author visit on Zoom from a local author, Courtney Defriend, who shared her story called If Instead of A Person. We will continue to explore our responsibilities and connections to the land in which we live.
