Here is what we would like to share with our families from the last couple of weeks!
We are citizens
We have continued to build an understanding of our role and responsibilities within our classroom community. As part of this, we have been choosing and taking part in daily classroom jobs (L. C).
We have been exploring our identities and what makes us unique. We are beginning to explore family and community as part of who we are. “Family is part of you being you” (L.C). Last week we discussed what is important to us and our families. “We don’t want to lose some things that are really important to us and our families” (A. W-G). We are building our awareness of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives. This week we explored language. We read a story that spoke about the loss of language among Indigenous peoples and had the chance to discuss the importance of language and the different languages that are spoken in our classroom.
We are mathematicians
We have been using concrete materials and pictures to explore the number 10! We have been decomposing 10 into parts and exploring ways to make 10. We also learned a new math game called Terrific 10 Snake! We will have a chance to bring home our math games to share with our families over the Winter Break!
We are musicians
We have been playing Christmas songs in music!
Heart, mind, and body
We also wanted to share our sensory path – we call it the “Track” – with our families. Visit our Microsoft Team to see a video of our “Track” in action!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Dos (similar look and feel of uno) is a great game that practices different numbers that add up to 10! Highly recommend.
