What we want our families to know about this week…
We are artists!
“We made pumpkins!” (C.G-M) Students took part in a guided drawing to create pumpkins. We were so excited about our pumpkin art that we decided to take it home to share with our families
We are readers and writers!
“We are trying to build our reading stamina. Our goal is to read for 20 minutes” (L.C). We are currently at 13 minutes!
“We have been writing lots of books during story workshop, it is really fun!” (P.M). “We get to make books and create stories using loose parts” (O.H). “We have finished some books and want to keep writing more books!” (A.W-G)
We also talked about our Brain Pockets that we can use when we are writing; our Memory Pocket, Fact Pocket, and Imagination Pocket.

We are citizen!
“We have continued to learn about being friendly. We are learning to be kind. We are still working on and practicing whole body listening and ways to calm your body.” (R.A) Whole body listening includes eyes watching, mouth quiet, ears listening, calm body, brain thinking, and heart caring.
“We are still working on earning parts of our “sandwich” by using kind words, walking in the hallways and classroom, raising our hands, focusing on what we are working on, using quiet voices, and being kind to others” (T.D). Together, we came up with these expectations at the beginning of the year based on how we want our classroom to be.
We are curious!
“We have been working on our questions for our Wonder Wall” (V.K). Students have continued to add questions. We have also started exploring some of the questions posted on our Wonder Wall. This week we explored why snow is white!
Some additional highlights:
This week our cohort class showed us a circuit they had learnt using the playground equipment. This is something that we will do when taking movement breaks.
We always enjoy playing “outside with our friends at recess” (G.M). We have been enjoying “splashing in puddles when it rains!” (R.D.).
