What we want our families to know about this week…
Building Our Classroom Community and Emotional Literacy
This week we continued to talk about feelings. We focused on being kind and how we can help others, and ourselves, to feel joy (P; A; V).
We are Mathematicians
“In math we are working on counting” (R). We worked on different ways to arrange and show numbers. We also continued to look at the stories of shapes! (L) “We combine different shapes to make new shapes” (A) and we looked for shapes outside (R).
We are readers and authors
This week “we worked on sharing our stories” (R) through both book making and using loose parts.
“We are also learning poems!” (T). We have started exploring poetry together as a class. We practice each new poem together throughout the week and add them to our poetry books.
Some additional highlights
We have been doing mindful drawing and sculpting after lunch. By focusing on our drawing or sculpting, we “help ourselves to be calm and get our minds ready to learn” (R).
We have continued to share our questions in order to grow our Wonder Wall. We ask questions and record our wonders so that we can investigate them throughout the year (K).
We continued to work on our leaf paintings and reflect on what makes our heart happy and what we are grateful for.
In music we are learning to play the xylophone!
